Nice video on your build! For those dissing the shock/rib cage this was done to clean up the cable routing, stiffen the frame and acommodate the high low setting the Rip needs. Also for weight, this as Clint said is not a cross country race bike and even last model Rip pedals way lighter than its weight would have you believe. Only nit pick I see is maybe trim those cables in front of head tube.

Nice looking bike Clint, it's a bike that looks fast! Not sure if it's just your video angles, but it does not look like a 66° head angle and also looks like a fairly short stumpy bike? Niner don't have much of a presence here in the UK, so I've never actually seen one in the flesh, only online videos. I'm sure it is longer, lower and slacker than it looks, and with the exception of it's weight looks like a real trail ripper. Looking forward to the next update and your first ride impressions. Maxxis tyres, the best there are for Mtb, followed closely by Vittoria. Enjoy.

Hello Clint, Since watching your videos over the past year I have outgrown my Trance 2 29er beginner bike. I trust your judgement and wanted to ask you your thoughts on the Ibis Ripley 29er or the Rip 9 3Star 9er. I am 5'6" and Niner recommends the SMALL frame. Your thoughts on both the bikes and size. I live in AZ and ride the desert trails. Thanks in advance on your advice. Jg

Hey Clint I got the same question I’m a little over 5’10 should a medium be okay or will I feel like I’m too big for it?
@cabbynate4 жыл бұрын
@@jaydance405 I ended up selling mine because it was to small. It I got a medium I would still have it. I say when in doubt size up but I'm not the pro. The cockpit was to tight and my knees were to close to the bars. It made switch backs next to impossible. I could have went with a longer stem but felt a 50 or 60mm stem wouldn't have been enough and I wouldn't have wanted to go any longer than that. Clint gives good advice and I'm sure if I was standing face to face with Clint he would have have said a medium for sure.👍🏼

No possible way at 31lbs. Motobecane Hal CF boost has this category on lockdown. So far in 2019 nothing comes close even for racing. Dont get me wrong because the Niner is a nice bike but 8k for that thing. Bikes direct upped their game on the enduro side with those Scott style frames. Scott had the package to beat for the last three years, but 10k was way too steep, and now motobecane has the mojo.

The suspension seems like a rip off of giant maestro suspension ???? Let’s just put the linkage under the B.B instead of above
@ClintGibbs5 жыл бұрын
Niner CVA has been around for quite a while now. Actually CVA allows for shorter chain stays which is why it's my preferred design.
@joshallen11265 жыл бұрын
I do agree with you that Niner CVA has been around for a while, but I did a little research and this Niner you are running compared to the trance 29er you had actually have the exact same chain stay length, so minus the linkage being above the bb or below they are so very much the same.Both Giants suspension design and Niners are basically the same and they both market it in different ways of course. Now full disclose I am the service manager for a bike shop that is a Giant dealer so I am totally biased here haha and riding my trance 2 is a dream up or downhill as you know, but in the end I do appreciate your response and just wanted to here your thoughts about how similar they are... yes I know that is not going to happen as they market in different ways ! Thanks again Clint, enjoy your videos regularly, keep the uploads coming.
@ClintGibbs5 жыл бұрын
@@joshallen1126 keep in mind that the trance is only 115 travel in the back whereas the Niner is 140. I'm really really hoping the Giant releases a longer travel 29er this year and can keep the chain stays short. As you know, I'm a huge fan of Giant as well.
@joshallen11265 жыл бұрын
Yes watching your Giant videos from the past is what got me to subscribe. I never did think about the travel in the rear, Giant would have to up the linkage points to achieve more travel and I am sure that is coming in the future with how well this bike has been received :)
