So basically, the upgraded Aeropex. I love my Aeropex. Use them in meetings, riding, walking, basically all day. Laying down is a challenge, since the back interferes with the pillow. I have to turn them around and put the back loop on my forehead. A little awkward, but works ok. I wish they had an adjustable length back loop.

They are extremely durable! I have had a pair of airopex aftershokz That I have worn to work welding 10 hours a day 5 days a week for 3 and a half years now and they still work great!
@BrianRPaterson2 жыл бұрын
Clint. You are spot on. Aftershokz are excellent for cycling. I killed 2-3 pairs of supposedly "sports" Bluetooth earbuds by sweating on them. Salt water gets into the charge port, which destroys them. Aftershokz seem to be pretty well sealed. The charge port is a magnetic coupling, which keeps out the sweat and rain and everything else. Add the situational awareness from bone conduction and Aftershokz get 2 thumbs up from me. BTW: Im fine with the sound. I mostly listen to audiobooks or podcasts anyway. Also, I have no affiliation with these guys. I just rate their gear. It's great. Cheers

One of my favorite brand of headphones. I have the AfterShokz Titanium. They are truly great for all of the reasons you mentioned in the review!

I have been using Aeropex, which is the previous version of Openrun for over a year and love them. I can hear everything and everyone around you but still hear music or whatever. I have actually taken a phone call while riding my road bike and was surprised how well I could hear the caller and how well they could hear me. Definitely sold on these.

Really like the previous version. I've been using for about a year. Mostly for MTB climbs. When I'm riding tech I don't like to have the music as much.

I got the Aftershockz Titanium (they are now called the Shokz OpenMove) about 2 yr ago, and I love them for biking. When riding in the woods/trails I have the volume down low, and I can hear everything . and the Titanium/OpenMove use a standard USB to charge, although the aren't as water proof, but that are fine with sweat and rain.

I've been using these for a couple years now and I love them.. currently I have the previous model of these that still has the USB-C charger and have so far been sweatproof enough.. but we'll see, my last couple pairs definitely died after repeated torture testing of summer biking but so far no issues here.

Been using the Aftershokz for about 4 years now. First the titanium model then the Airopex. They work pretty good with full face helmets for downhilling etc. I did have one issue with my 1st pair of Airopex where the speaker units seemed to come loose inside the housing. Bought from Amazon so they took care of it for free as it was within the one year warranty period. All in all they are great for what they are intended to be used for.

Yesterday, I had a family trip far from home and stopped at a bike shop, as I can't pass a bike shop and move on my business :D So, in the shop I saw a stand with Shokz headphones and tried them. The reaction was: wow! As many people mentioned: you need to get used to the tiny vibrations coming from them. Sound quality it's perfect. When you a biking, jumping, breathing, etc... you can't hear or pay attention to the music details. You just don't have to it as you are focused on the riding. My personal opinion that audio books and podcasts make a perfect combo with gravel/road biking, and music with cross country biking in the parks. As for the mountain biking... I don't know... Personally, I wouldn't have time to pay attention on the playing music as I will be focused on pedaling :D

I bought the aftershockz air a couple weeks ago, on clearance as the newer models were coming out. I love them so far. When i ride i don’t want to completely shut out the outside world and want to be aware of what’s around me. Riding with most earbuds causes too much noise isolation but these strike a great balance of having some music only i can hear, i don’t want to be blasting a Bluetooth speaker that other people have to listen to, yet i can still hear of what’s going on around me.

Game changing! Amazing on an aircraft and indoor trainer coupled with earplugs. Audio quality is so much better with earplugs. When riding outside ditch the earplugs.

I have that exact one. I love them. I'm getting s 2nd pair for good measure. On the other hand, if I'm doing 20mph on my bike with the wind blowing, I really don't think deep rich audio is my problem 🤣🤣🤣 chances I'll have to listen to the podcast again.

I have had a pair of these for 4+ years. Min are an older model. still going strong. Sound quality is not as good as headphones but for riding a bike they are great.

Same experience as mine, glad to see this review mimicking my life lol!! Validation! I use them at home like you do to listen to things but not tune the fam out. Outside, definitely 100% volume around cars or when going over 20, you can’t hear it otherwise. Apple tells me I’m going to lose my hearing tho lol 😂

I like the general concept of it for around the house and on bike listening to podcasts and videos. Curious of the price. Right now I have the Aftershox and they aren't real reliable. They warranty the first pair with no questions, but this pair only works on 1 side. If under $60, I'd give them a try.
@craiglist94042 жыл бұрын
I had to return mine. Super comfy but It’s been very windy in the SF Bay Area. Turning up volume high creates too much vibration (tickling sensation as Clint says) for them to be comfy.
@zakymaa Жыл бұрын
Yes agree. Same thing here. I feel the volume is low and vibration is high on high volume. Indoors working fine.

Only earphones I would use doing sport. Really like em. Only little thing I don't like is when the volume is at max the vibration tickle my ear a little.

I bought one when they were called aftershokz but i did hate it for the price how they sounded and returned them. Last fall, few years later i bought 20€ ones from china which have same crappy sound but are 7 times cheaper and really like them for biking/running

I have ran in these for a couple of years. Unfortunately , sweat causes problems for them and I’ve had to warranty replace them 4 separate times. The sound is good but they just can’t take wet.

I just started using bone condition headphones from Orange and they are amazing. I am also a guitar player and own several Orange amplifiers. They made these for guitar practice, but they are still water resistant. Since they are an amp company the primary goal is good sound, They are 99% as good as my ear buds for bass/treble. They still have the wind issues all non earbuds have, but they are awesome!

Perfect for cycling. And my wife doesn’t get irked because I can hear her whereas with my headphones and in-ear buds she gets mad at me not hearing her.

Thank you for the review! I'm thinking of getting a pair of bone conducting headphones for the office, but I was wondering - can others hear them when you are listening at high volume?
@johnwilkes91422 жыл бұрын
No, it’s only audible to the wearer… also, you can magnify the volume by putting an earplug in one ear

I’ve been contemplating between bone conduction or Bose Ultra Open ear Ultras and new Soundcore open ear buds mainly cause I wear hearing aids. Although they have bluetooth I don’t rely on them to listen to music and it’s getting annoying taking them out to put my AirPods in or a bit bothersome when I put on and over ear headphones. A few days ago a coworker offered to let me try his Shokz Open Run Pro and I’ll be picking mine up in a an hour cause I ordered them right away. Most def I was impressed at the sound. Now I just hope they don’t interfere with my hearing aids cause they sit on the outside of me ear where part of the headphones go and I wear hats all year round. Either way I’m excited to scoop them up and I’ll shoot back here after trying them out for a few hours just in case anyone has these or similar issues ✌🏽

@@ClintGibbs so I picked them up Sunday and immediately liked them but my real test would come Tuesday (yesterday) cause I mainly bought them for work. I did make a 20 minute phone call while I was in the park with the kids and my buddy heard me clear and I heard him clear. Ok so now the real test, I turned them on at 1:42 and turned them off at 10:42 and still had 39% according to the Shokz app so safe to say battery life is GREAT. A few times within those 9 hours I felt a slight discomfort but all it took was to readjust them. Shokz didn’t interfere with my hearing aids so that was pleasing. It can be loud at work but overall the music sounded good. I also tried a 57 minute podcast and the experience was great so I may get into more podcasts while I work. These are def a keeper.

I like the concept. But, I can't hear anything when I driving due to road noise. I will not be buying another one. I will have to find something new, since the LG tones don't last more then 6 months anymore.

I do not. Did you get them from a reputable dealer? Since they are in Chinese I’m wondering if they are not authentic.

@@ClintGibbs I already wrote to the Support and Reclamation team, so shall see how it goes. Well they are expensive, from a reputable dealer. Unfortunately, the official handler/company in the States, delivers only for the States and Canada, due to... unknown. They just don't. Anyway, thanks for the reply (= !

How does the headphone work during phone calls? Specifically when biking. Does the recipient hear you clearly? Or do they hear a lot of wind noise due to the bike's speed?
@ClintGibbs Жыл бұрын
I haven’t tried a phone call while actually riding it, believe it or not. I can’t imagine it being very good but I will have to try it. I have not found any headphones that are good while riding and talking on the phone.

I think bone conduction headphones are a great idea for a group of people that always get overlooked. The blind or vision impaired, they need to be able to hear what is going on around on a daily basis. And as I start to lose some vision myself I am seriously looking into getting a pair for myself. But I want to try them out first to make sure they are a good product for me and I do love listening to music while I am out and about.
@billybollockhead5628 Жыл бұрын
What are these like for "noise leakage" - i.e. if I'm using these in the gym, would the person next to me hear? I assume not - but I want to make sure. Actually - better case scenario.. I'm listening to music or audiobook in bed - would my wife hear?

Hi i have the aeropex worth upgrade to openrun pro?
@ClintGibbs2 жыл бұрын
I am not tested though so I really can’t give an opinion on that.
@macvos2 жыл бұрын
Not really, unless you really value quick charging, better battery life and slightly better bass (but still nothing comparable to in-ear headphones). Most sports-focused reviews that compare the OpenRun and OpenRun Pro seem to agree there's very little difference. The OpenRun are basically Aeropex with quick charging. Personally, I'd say it's a lot of money for a very small upgrade.
