Clio 182 - EP1 - What have I got myself in for?

An "accidental" purchase of a clio 182 occured. Lets take a look at something vastly different to the german vehicles we usually work on! I am completely blind on this so lets hope we don't find anything major. #clio182 #renaultsport

Wow what a bargain. I'm always gobsmacked at how cheap these cars are in the UK. I just got quoted ~$600 AU for replacement interior window switch holders / door handle thingies on my 182 - just the plastic bits. I can't imagine what they would want for a new bonnet.

That does seem rather expensive! The french have to ship them all the way to Aus, which probably doesnt help hehe. Clio 182 prices are all over the place here. Most of them seem to be listed for sale between £3000 and £6000 ($5400 to $10,000). So this is quite cheap, even for us.

Just bought an identical looking 182 myself. I paid £2k, although it's 351 miles away so looking at another £4 - 500 for it to be brought down to me. I still think that's a lot of fun for the money. I've had BMW's for the past 30 years and the last Renault I had was a Gordini turbo but values of those are through the roof, as are the BMW E21, E30 and 2002's etc.

Get that engine fuse box covered ASAP mate. They are an absolute nightmare if water gets in.

Thanks, will do. It looks like it may already have some corrosion inside, the cover was in the boot.

@@amfautomotive5710 it's really common for the cover clip to break (left hand side when looking down on it). If you remove the battery next to it you can cable tie it on securely. I've done that and also used some gaffer tape just to make sure nothing gets in! 😂

@@amfautomotive5710 no worries. I also have a cheap solution for the spoiler brake light replacement if yours needs done? They are very difficult to acquire now as Renault stopped making them in 2019

Misfire on tickover is common.

Thanks. This one seemed to misfire throughout the rev range, but got better as it warmed. in any case I wont pay too much attention until the dephaser is sorted.

£200 for a brand new bonnet is just ridiculous! Peanuts.

I know, it's ridiculous. MB would charge £200 for the bonnet release! Could rebuild half the car for £43.61 in genuine parts.
