It's such fun to watch people who make a living by tapping a keyboard trying to work on a car 😎

After lots of reading and searching i also went for a Clio R27 for my first track car. I was also close to a 182 or Civic Type R but glad i went for the R27 what fantastic little car. First thing to do is get some good Tyres. Lots of options but a good all round choice is Pilot sport cup 2's, you need to get some heat into them but they are also fine in the wet. My car now has braided lines, high carbon grooved front discs with Ferodo 2500 pads, cone intake and cat back exhaust, H&R springs. A strip out and remap is on the cards... Took it to Brands start of Feb, you have to take it there for Padock hill, what a corner.

Ended up going with the cheap T1R Toyos as the spare wheel already had one. Will see how they hold up for the first track day! Bought the car on Uniroyal RainSport all round... way too squidgy. Pretty much anything will be an improvement! Brands is certainly a track we want to try! First stop, Snetterton 300 👍

Never had to take the bumper off when I changed my builds just took the battery fuse box off and moved inlet trumpet

+Carl Stirk that would indeed have been easier! The bumper wasn't very well aligned so removing it sorted that too 👍

Hey guys... small world as I have just done exact same thing !. Yesterday picked up 2010MY RS200 (ex of Chris Bray @Finishline racing) which has already had tons of work done... heading over to Castle Combe Monday April 3rd for a play. Rather hoping the crazy maintenance bills I have been paying for on my Lotus 2-11 which I sold last year (perhaps stupidly) can be compensated for by more active track bias car on much smaller budget. It has stock engine and exhaust but total stripped out interior (roof lining etc, even speakers have gone!) with roll cage / upgraded suspension (Gaz Gold coil overs) and brakes (Mintex F4)

Best thing I have done to mine is fit Toyo R888R's and H&R 30mm lowered springs front and rear, stuck with cup dampers. I also had to replace the exhaust manifold so fitted toyosport's (deleted pre-cat) along with a ktr torque mount (gearbox to chassis) as these cars are prone to flexi pipes on manifold to break and leak exhaust gases. It's also been custom remapped but I've not seen much of an improvement of it yet.

I'd take out the rear seats (which u did), put a roll cage or even just a "hoop". You're in the UK, so you're lucky... You have Safety Devices, who make FIA roll bars, cages, etc. They supply pretty much every car manufacturer. Those external Land Rover Defender safety cages, guess who makes them? You can buy a bolt in roll bar or cage. It also stiffens the car/chassis tremendously! Maybe some lighter body panels? Carbon bonnet? You can leave it unpainted, the black carbon can help w/ glare if driving in to the sun & can look cool. It'll probably weigh 1/3rd of, or less than your factory metal bonnet. If you really want to start getting extreme, Lexan windows & more lightweight body panels. It's a front wheel drive car, maybe a front splitter for downforce? But balance it with a rear wing. Can you lower the Clio a bit? STICKY RUBBER! Michelin Pilot Sport/Pilot Cup... There's other good tires out there, the Michelins are just common & often OE-Spec, like Porsche.

It's a fantastic little car but the standard engine has a small power band which is really annoying, you should stick a megane r26 engine and gearbox into it

Nice ! You should do more video on this clio !

I am in the process of looking for one of these with the right milage. Did the car live up to its expectations? Mines is going to be a weekend/ track car. Any info would be great. cheers

Oz ultraleggerras? wider wheels yet lighter so reduce rolling weight. They do cost a fair bit though.
@ultimateroadtrips7 жыл бұрын
+usman arshad good suggestion! Wheels are certainly something we'll consider 👍

You can run 225 tyres on the standard rims without issue. Clio 197.net is worth a look lots of info there.

Welcome back guy's. ..been a while since your last vid. is that a factory fitted exhaust and what BHP is it pushing?
@ultimateroadtrips7 жыл бұрын
+Ian Cross Definitely not standard, but not sure what's been done yet. Likely to be within a few BHP of stock

43kg? THAT'S A LOT. You were kidding about 1 sec lap, but it actually might be even more. Get a look at ride height, taking weight changes geo, 43kg Changes quite a lot, mainly when it's only in 1 part of the car.
@ultimateroadtrips7 жыл бұрын
+Cut de Pie Fails Spare wheel was half of that, so we'll see how it performs on track before making further changes 👍
