He was clearly lying. The lawsuit Danny Terrio filed against Merv Griffin was dismissed due to lack of evidence. Danny Terrio said he had affidavits, but when I asked to produce affidavits he couldn’t. At this point in time Danny Terrio had no television career, and he was doing whatever he could because he was desperate to remain relevant. In articles I’ve read Danny Terri was extremely difficult to work with and that’s why he was let go from the one television show he was on. Due to him being difficult to work with no one would hire him, so he came up with these accusations against murder Griffin to remain relevant and make money to support his drug habit

People are laughing because homophobia was, unfortunately, widespread and acceptable in the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s.
@tangerinefizz116 жыл бұрын
I agree, but I think that one reason people are laughing is also because they're imagining some old geezer wearing a men's bikini.
@wowser20006 жыл бұрын
Oh, make no mistake: it was homophobia all right.
@devanshepard91186 жыл бұрын
@Dennis It is ignorance at the belief that a man could be assaulted. It is also ignorance that a man like mere griffin could be gay. And homophobia is the prejudice against gays. And it is also doubt as some people thougt Dan my was just lying
@tannawannavannabittannawan71385 жыл бұрын
Dennis ~ How would you know anything about it? Probably threw out quite a few anti-gay remarks back in your day. This is a perfect sign of homophobia and people like you help promote it by saying this isn’t homophobia and there’s nothing wrong with these people laughing at him.

what a terrible interviewer Geraldo was. He came in biased. Not saying that Terrio's story was accurate but Geraldo's mind was made up way before he did the interview obviously.

Well its in the news now that Bette Midler accused Geraldo of sexual harassment in an interview back in 1991, 1 year before this interview! It was brought up again this year or late last year....It all makes sense why he was so biased.

Geraldo sticks up for anyone accused of sexual harassment or abuse. He finished his career when he defended #metoo accused, when he should have just kept his mouth shut instead of talking, when no one wanted his opinion. He also set the tone enabling people in the audience to laugh at Denny and ridicule this horrible scene he is describing.
@mchacon016 жыл бұрын
Wow, Geraldo is quite the slimball. He's asking for facts yet he presents none of his own. I wouldn't doubt he's part of the problem. Oh yeah, Rivera's got his own sexual harassment accusers. No surprise there. What a has-been 3rd rate talk show celebrity.
@Liberalbeaststl4 жыл бұрын
It sickens me that Geraldo makes light of sexual harassment that men and women in entertainment are victims of. Deney Terrio was the choreographer for Saturday Night Fever, among other movies and shows. Do people think sexual harassment started with Harvey Weinstein for god sake!! This man's career did suffer as a result of being black balled. Period.

Damn, Geraldo was horrible. I see a lot of comments rightly condemning the laughing audience of women. But the biggest culprit is the Church for constructing a gender role for men that puts them above sexual abuse, and for making homosexuality so fringe that people do not know how to respond in a mature way. These women were laughing because a man being sexually abused was inconceivable to them. Don't forget, 20+ years later, we are still learning how to take male-rape seriously.

Well this is how Rivera started out on tv. He was a shock tv host. I think with this show, he was trying to be in Merv Griffin’s good graces. Rivera just goes along with the times. He couldn’t get work over at the networks, maybe for reasons having to do with substance abuse. We’ll never know the real story. But Rivera pushed his resume over to Fox and he became a conservative. 10 years from now, who knows how he will reinvent himself. I know after the Al Capone Safe, was found to be a big hoax, he looked very foolish for a while. The guy is a grifter. After Fox, who knows? Maybe he’ll be doing the weather in Iowa?

This sounds more like a cross examination from Griffins attorney. That twat Rivera is desperately trying to discredit DT and is basically accusing him of slander and false accusations. This guy was way ahead of his time if you think about it.

This just shows how twisted shit was in '92. If you were gay you were looked at as a freak. Sexual assault was a punchline. I grew up in the 80s and if you weren't heterosexual you were holding a target.

Gay men hitting on young men in Hollywood is nothing new. Deney didn't have to put up with Merv's alleged harassment for years. Also, are we to believe that Deney was the only good-looking young man in Merv's sphere? Hardly. Deney's lawsuit was eventually dismissed by a judge.

The more Geraldo atracked Terrio the more sincere Terrio came off as being. It would be less believable I think if Geraldo tried to coddle him in the interview instead of basically treating him as a hostile witness . But Geraldo isnt that clever. Just a talentless grifter.

As we can tell by watching this, sexual harassment is viewed differently then compared to how its viewed now. People don't laugh now when someone talks about a harassment incident...and the interviewer doesn't act like the guest is lying.
