Yes, I remember watching this every Saturday night when I was nine years old in our living room. Great show.

my sister and I would watch and then she would try to swing me around like the dancers....one time she was swinging me and I knocked two of my teeth out on the coffee table.....🤣🤣

I do still remember this I was just 9 years old then and now I'm 51. I tried to wait just to watch this during those times. I have witnessed the very first time of televising the dance fever on tv with deney terio. My mother keeps asking me what am I waiting for😁 and I said "dance fever". And 8 years after I became a dancer on television with the group. What an ambition😁.

Me! Saturday nights growing up in South Louisiana during the 1970s, I always watched "The Love Boat" and "Fantasy Island," followed by news and then "Dance Fever," "Sha Na Na" and the late night mystery movie on WBRZ Ch. 2 (either the Sherlock Holmes or Charlie Chan movies). Good times!

....this AMAZES me, because, I was THERE...- not REEEALLY 'there', but, Old enough, to remember this time- and, even in DECEMBER of 1979, this style of disco dancing was soooo 'dated'.....This aired on Sundays, at 7:30pm, on WPIX, in NYC, and, it was HUGE! ...I feel soooo bad for Denny Terrio...if "DF" premiered, Jan. 1978, it would've become a CLASSIC kitsch TV Show....not grasping for straws, Sept. of 1979.....
@deputay4 жыл бұрын
For a show "grasping at straws" at the end of the 70s, the fact that it remained on the air until 1987 isn't all bad. Of course, some parts of the show are at the mercy of the contestants & their musical choices...

I remember watching this show back then And I know a lot of people that were in this competition. The dancing is supposed to be a style of disco/hustle. Hustle at that time was in its beginning stages and it's nothing like it is now. Interesting the third couple looked like they were dancing west coast swing.

I don't think Don Cornelius had a hand in Dance Fever. Merv Griffin's company produced the show. Merv hung onto the rights to Dance Fever despite selling the rights to Wheel and Jeopardy in the 80s.

All 4 couples were excellent in my opinion. Who won? I would have gone with couple 1 simply for the acrobatics though since I stink at dancing I can’t tell the difference between a good dancer and a great dancer.

1 month away from the 80s and we still have flares and hippy hair from like 1967. And all white, seriously - you think Philly and Jackson they would have to be Black - but no white - not even Jew or Italian white, but snow white anglo or nordic americans

georgelee43211 WRONG...in fact 1980 81 and 82 where the best years of disco. 100 % TRUE.
@jako32145 жыл бұрын
Kind of. Yes the Disco Sucks disaster happened months before and the 4 on the floor beats became less common but u don't just 'kill' an entire genre overnight lol. The late 70s Disco sound was still huge in Europe in the early 80s and still to a hit/miss degree on US radio. But up untill around '83 the classic Disco sound lingered. By 84/85 yup...was totally over.
@jorgeluispadron91564 жыл бұрын
Don't think so. Glad to be seeing Cerrone in Best Disco Concerts around the World and at his Best. And other Great Disco Performers. It's alive than ever before. Thanks God.
@ericn14504 жыл бұрын
@@michaelglenn367 in the United States disco was pretty much dead as a genre as far as the radio was concerned by the end of 1980. Dance music never died and many feel the night clubs got better but look at the charts. For example, Chic were huge in 1978 and 1979 and look at them in 1980 struggling to get a hit.
