Wow, I really miss these old Deepwoken vibes that I got from the leaks. The devs changed the look and feel of the game so much in the end, that it feels like the game I was waiting on for so long no longer exists. Current Deepwoken is fun but I'm so dissatisfied with it because it's not at all what I expected. I really wish they would add back all those old islands they removed.

I feel the same way. Watching gameplay from Nano's old Deepwoken videos and Faceless man ruin's video made the game feel and look way different. The aesthetic was different and islands were much more whole and aren't as fragmented as now. Weird to say but visually I liked how the game looked in the Faceless man ruin video and the Nano Prodigy video and the gameplay. It seems that a lot of spells have been removed from the game and it is sad to see that there are far less customization options now.

It wouldn't have been as jarring if the developers had actually kept us informed, but instead they drip fed us tiny amounts of information, information that shaped our expectations and the game's pre-release identity. Then, without telling us, they just kinda changed everything. It feels like a lot of the cooler things that they showed off aren't in the game either. What happened to sneaking into places and stealing cargo and valuables like in the direct? I remember when the ship they were using disappeared they were like "yeah the nearby navy was alerted." They implied much more vast and complex systems would be in the game when in reality they were just exaggerating things. This makes the game just feel shallow in comparison. I'm not angry about all this, or upset at the developers or anything. I'm just sad that it turned out this way.

@@sagehanson190 Couldn't have worded it better myself, the game we got isn't bad, but I do wonder what the game would be like if they had gone through with their earlier game direction. Serenance Peaks and Isle of the Crows were the 2 locations I looked forward to exploring the most, and it's sad to see them gone. Here's to hoping Rag adds missions and the missing islands in a future update, and just hasn't scrapped the islands and the ideas for missions and stuff entirely. I also feel like the combats gone in a much better direction, but the overarching world hasn't. It feels quite a bit more static and the islands feel fragmented (like you said) and rushed, like they scrapped the previous islands last minute and made new ones within a short timespan. Obviously I have no idea if this is actually what happened, it's just how it feels to me. (I should add that I think the depths is done extremely well and I really like it, I'm mainly referring to the overworld or whatever one would call it, the vibe is just off from the earlier directs)

Tbh, while I still really like current deepwoken and think that it is the best game on Roblox, I wish we could have got a deepwoken more like this, in current deepwoken it feels like exploration and adventure(something that was supposed to be a big part of the game) is kinda dead now. There is like a million maps and tutorials for everything. There is also only a few islands since they cut so many islands from the game.

dont forget that literally a DAY before the game dropped, one of the youtubers (i forget who now) posted an ENTIRE beginner's tutorial on where to go and what to do when you start deepwoken. and then since then its been the trend of testers instantly making a video about the new content. there is quite literally no adventure or exploration in the game and hasnt been since day 1. they shouldve done what they did with rogue lineage, being very strict on youtubers/testers sharing info.

i easily prefer the old deepwoken islands and approach to survival compared to current deepwoken. current deepwoken feels much more like a combat progression game rather than the older deepwoken that focused more on survival and combat. etris not being a place where you spawn, and instead spawning on the beach feels much more like you were dropped in the world without explanation and need to survive. while current deepwoken makes it feel much more like an generic adventure story rather than the start of a legend.
