I never forgot how Batman atleast tried to save Jack. I think 89 Batman is still the best Batman. He does the best he can, but it isn't til later in the film when he kills Joker and his henchmen, because despite Batman's conviction of not killing criminals, he won't let that get in the way if civilians are in danger. by the end, Jack was completely unhinged and was basically gonna kill everyone in gothem, on top of the fact that Bruce figured out that Jack killed his parents. He realized he was simply too far gone, and that Joker was too dangerous to be left alive. I know people dont like that Batman does kill in this movie, but give him credit, that it was either Joker dies, or everyone dies.
