Jalen Johnson that’s why I think this joker portrayal (no insults to Ledger, Leto, Phoenix) is the best because it has actual comedic laughs and jokes that make the audience giggle/laugh, which all other on screen joker portrayals have missed. But he is still a deranged, cold blooded killer who cares about no one except himself. Plus when you consider the body count between murdering everyone in this museum, the poisoned cosmetics and the hundreds of people at the parade, he still to this day one of the, if not the, most deadly (body count) comic book villain movie adaptations.

Honestly I feel the same way about M Keatons Bruce Wayne. So much more nuance to the character. The whole movie is just spectacular.
@alex66772 жыл бұрын
@@RustinChole I think because Nolan has taken these comic books far too seriously, and it’s lost it’s charm. They’ve become oh so serious violent ‘epics’, which inspired a mass shooting at a movie theatre, and the the actor who played Joker killed himself. I think it’s a reflection of our times, where we must take comic book heroes so seriously, probably because Hollywood has run out of creative ideas. Tim Burton is one of America’s great creative directors, and Michael Keaton, Jack Nicholson and Kim Bassinger play their roles so perfectly. Tim Burton’s Batmans are gothic, charming, funny, goofy, terrifying, creative, beautifully shot, and perfectly cast. He was the perfect director for Batman
@MrChickennugget3602 жыл бұрын

Art reflects the times. Artists often write in parallels to their worldview, and our world is not something that is shining vibrantly. The most recent Joker movie, touched heavily on a lot of current issues that are plaguing our society today. THere's no humor anymore, the only humor that remains is the irony that we find within our misery, and the complete absurdity of positions that we find ourselves wrapped up in as a species.

This movie should never be underestimated. If you've grown up with marvel movies etc you'd be surprised at what a huge risk a batman movie was perceived to be! Up to 89 if you said Batman, sure us comic book nerds where deep in dark storylines like Death in the family or books like killing joke etc, but on screen..? Yea you thought Adam West.. Kapow (no bad thing, I still love it) but the public would just see Lycra and "camp". Burton had a job to do.. A BIG job. And he nailed it. Nicholson is having a BALL in this film and his joker was VERY similar in story and tone to the comics of the time. Keaton had a lot to prove with negativity in the press. That he just wasn't Batman... And look how he nails it from his first scene.. But for me the most important point Burton gets right is in a character that most of the other movies forget to include... GOTHAM.. This is the Gotham of the comics.. Stylish.. Noir... German expressionism.. And fxxxing dark.. For me that was missed by the post Burton Bat movies. For me Batman works in HIS environment not just some random generic city. Anywho the battle for the best joker will go on and on thankfully.. And I'm sure he'd like that cos like in the comics... he contains multitudes
