I assumed the swing was sent from the clockstep, now I think it’s better as is. You can mess around with the clock swing and program changes by ear.

Swing does not effect the outgoing clock signal at this time.

since i use CS:M as my main clock, i tend to think i would want it to be stable and not need that feature. I use pam's pro workout to add swing when i need to, BUT pam's hasn't been a stable clock for me when it is not the main/master clock so I'm not sure how good swing in modular would sound and if it would be musical. not opposed to it, just not sure what the outcome would be LOL

Yes, you've put your finger right on it. I can do something to manipulate the timing of the outgoing clock, but it's not something that is part of a standard and there's no guarantee devices will react well to receiving an intentionally swinging clock. Plus, it's a lot of work only to discover no one really uses it. Swing implemented on a sequencer on top of a steady clock, like how the click track is being implement here, is the better approach for sure.

There is an age old quest that you could conquer...MI Grids famously wants run at 24ppqn for best 'rhythm detail'. Folks also desire to make it swing from external clock. It can be done from Silent Way or other plugins easily, but haven't witnessed it done in hardware land yet! @@jmkmusicpedals

Personally I always wanted a master analog pulse clock that can swing, namely for swinging MI Grids at 24ppqn. Haven't found a way to do it in hardware yet, only software!

Does this swing affect the clock outputs as well? Could I use it to get a bass sequencer like a td 3 to swing for example?

No, the swing only effects the audio metronome.

Would i benefit from this CLOCKstep MULTI in combination with my Tascam Model 12 recording hardware synths into my DAW? I think the Model 12 has to be the Master? I want to sequence in FL Studio piano roll.

What problem are you having when you try to send the MIDI Clock from the Model 12 into FL Studio? Is it trouble having them both start at the same time because the Model 12 doesn't send the MIDI Start Command?

@@jmkmusicpedals i just want to sequence my external synths into FL piano roll and record into FL via Model 12. I have a MIDI interface.

@@markbruggeman274 The area that CS:M mainly helps in involves clock pulses, clock latency and clock jitter. But if you are sending notes from your Piano Roll to synths, that's not using clock between them. This would be more for if you wanted to sync external sequencers to your DAW and other gear, where clock must be shared to keep everything from drifting apart. Are you doing an external sequencing? How are you using clock right now between devices? Or are you just investigating what clock is for at the moment? Is the Model 12 recording audio, or are you using it just as a mixer/monitor? What issues are you faced with?
