Today we've got this beautiful little horizontal table clock which was made by Dan Quare. And Dan Quare specialised in making special clocks for dignitaries, royalty and here he excels himself. You can see for a table clock, it's unique in that it's got, actually got on the octagonal cut sides, the four castings for the feet. Normally, these sort of things were kept for very expensive longcase clocks but here he is adapting the design to make it look worth a million dollars. It's an eight day going clock with our striking but it also has an alarm. The other feature is a strike/silent mechanism with a pull so you can get a quarter repeat during the night to find out what the time was. It succeeds as the most beautiful little traveling clock. And 300 years later, we still can admire its construction, its beauty, its execution and it's a perfect little gem of a clock to travel to take with you on your holidays.
