That toilet auger seems like it can take a beating, I was a lot more gentle with a Cobra one I bought a couple months ago and it snapped off in the toilet, ended up having to pull it and replace the seal. Great video, something very satisfying about watching all the backed up water drain.

The toilet you snaked appeared to be a Glacier Bay brand, which are perhaps one of the cheapest toilets made, since they have abysmally tiny, unglazed trapways. It's usually the vintage and antique toilets that have much larger, glazed trapways. My father, living with his seven siblings in Detroit, remembers the toilet at his house, from 1916, with a low tank, never backed up.
