The designations are so loose throughout canon and legends. Some clone commanders began with CC Some clone commandos began with CC The original designators were RC - Republic Commando CC - Clone Commander CT - Clone Trooper With a few additional designations that were rare or special like Alpha or Null.

In legends the commandos almost all defected from the Empire soon after it was formed. These commandos were trained by Mandalorians on Kamino and so were more independent than the rest of the clones. They were basically like the Bad Batch But in canon it seems Dave Filoni is just using them as a higher tier bad guy for the bad batch to have to fight which is a lot less cool in my opinion. It would have been cooler to see a lot of these clones defect early on as it would have made sense

Honestly I'd say it's a bit more opposite. The Bad Batch and ARC Troopers were unconventional and could lead and/or raise armies if need be, much like Army Special Forces does. Clone Commandos are more covert missions behind enemy lines to sabotage or assassinate, or just all around destroy stuff, kind of like Navy SEALs' mission set (obviously on top of the amphibious nature).

That RC trooper never said a word and was so unlike Scorch and also why all the sudden is Scorch alone from his original squad. In the first few weeks of the clone wars there were paint jobs specifically for ranks: Sergeant=Green Blue=Lieutenant Captain=Red Commander=Yellow. Yes his final first generation armor was Maroon Red but it was originally yellow. Also Commander Ponds is 91st Mobile Reconnaissance Corps.
