Please read!! I've got some requests to make an Unedited version of the Crazy, Scary, Insanely low Amerijet Boeing 727 landing at Princess Juliana on the 10th of Dec 2013. It was a real near death experience for me and with out a doubt the scariest shot I've ever got. I hope you'll like it! = )
And don't forget to guess the sound at the end!! I'll go threw all the guesses in my last 2 videos tomorrow + the last Guess aircraft type competition. So there should be an update of the guess aircraft type scoring list soon.

My family is from this island, it's amazing that despite how many times they've told tourists not to go on that beach during take-offs and landings people still do it.

There is literally a bar on the side of that beach where women get a free drink if they show their tits.The sound speakers give the pilot / watch tower conversations.. yes .. they really do their best lmao

It's all fun and games till someone loses an eye. I've landed there and been on the beach and this is not a difficult runway to land on. It's long and wide. What makes it dangerous is the showboating that goes on for the sake of people on the beach or to show your buddies the video or picture of your landing that just showed up on the internet. More than once I've had to say something to someone I was flying with because they were starting to sink a little too low on final.

+captmoonbeam Agreed, there's plenty of runway . i think the shallow approach is for show. .It's a 7500 foot runway . If it wasn't a safe distance, they wouldn't go there. they would use lighter aircraft

My dad was a pilot on KLM 747 and he said that most planes go shallow bc the taxi is hell especially in a 747 a turnaround on a runway takes 5-10 mins also when you close to stall speed with full flaps with 1800 foot mountains in front of you it’s really hard to go around if you don’t land to short bc you are halfway in the runway then Your full blasting and basically your vert speed is at like 2000 but also when you see Cessna Caravans touch the fence which I seen then they are def boasting I agree but also disagree the island wouldn’t be what it is without the airport and these pilots have at least 1800 hours they deserve to boast

They're not in danger.... well... the planes would only hit them if it's crashing. Because if the wheels are so low they hits someone 2 meters (about 6 feet) from the ground when they should be 10 feet (3 meters) up when the plane is already some 50+ meters into the runway, it means the plane will hit the ground before the runway starts.

Just there a month ago and loved it. Missed out on the KLM 747 that everybody sees in videos. The 5ft waves are ridiculous crashing right at the shore. Highly recommend Maho Beach at least once. Bucket list..... ⛱✔

The approach and landing on a short runway was fine. I flew the 727 for 7 of my 35 years at a major airline. The 727 was designed for short runway landings, not for approaches over a crowded beach with people standing under the aircraft.

+Scott McIntosh I agree with you, the approach and landing were correct! Most of the people commenting here have no idea what it is to land at this airport(or other scary airport)! As a former DC10 flight engineer, I often landed here and it's always challenging.

Wait until an airliner crashes short of the runway and 3 dozen spectators on the beach are killed. Mark my words it'll happen someday. The victims attorneys will try and blame the local government, but those people knew the area wasn't safe. It's not like there were no warning signs posted.

Not outside the hurricane belt, I believe we're right in the path of El Nino, and the cost isn't too expensive, the only thing bothering me at the moment is just taxes, and paying for internet. I live in my own built house that my parents built on the coast, right next to the airport conveniently. Got a wonderful view of all the landing aircraft/taking off.

These people are very ill-advised. Despite repeated warnings and sign postings, they persist in standing in the direct landing path of various sized jets, including a 747. Wind shear, crosswinds, or any number of possible computer/machine failure would put them all at serious risk. In the early 1970s, a pilot was practicing touch-and-go's (repeated takeoffs and landings) at the airport in Stewart, NY. We were on our way to Cape Cod and stopped to watch the plane and its pilot. We were on a public road, outside the perimeter fence in the direct landing path of the plane. He flew over us one time, landed, took off and then just circled the airport. An airport security officer asked us to move away from the landing path as the pilot would NOT land until we were gone. They were all very nice about it, but they were quite adamant. We moved to a safer location to watch and, on his next go-round, he gave us "the wag".

this constant fixation on 100% safety at all times is quite a sad way to exist, if you ask me. not to mention that you have MUCH higher chance of getting injured or killed in your daily commute than you would ever have on this beach. the only few instances of injury here were a few people who came all the way up to the fence and got blown away into the concrete wall next to the road. those on the beach receive nothing more than mild sandblasting. exfoliation is healthy for your skin.

guguigugu It isn't ONLY about "safety at all times". There are issues about liability for the pilot, the airline, the airport, and potential danger to anyone living in the area as well should an accident occur--and accidents DO occur.

One MercilessMing there are no liability issues. if you are hurt it is nobody's fault but your own. you are the one who made a decision to stand under the glideslope, nobody forced you. there's even a sign specifically telling you not to. despite all this, some people come to st.maarten just to see and experience the landings. to claim that somebody else would be liable for their unlikely injury is beyond credibility, imo. i do not have a good opinion of people who embark on risky activities and then try to sue others around them when something happens.
