LOLl... that was funny video!! To have a sense of humor will get people through the worst of times. I love this channel!!!, Kenan is an amazing human being. All of the people that have their animal channels on KZbin are amazing people. I knew absolutely nothing about anything to do with snakes or reptiles or tarantulas or jumping spiders. I know and actually keep up in a conversation about the animals I mentioned. I never gave monitor lizards any thoughts really. And now I'm in love with Tegus and water monitors and croc monitors and gorgeous green tree monitors. And all of the amazing lineage of Monitors. They released a video on the weather channel about how the Iguanas fall out of trees from the cold all over the place, including yards, sidewalks, trees and just about anywhere you think. They mention that as the day heats up most of them will get up from slow warming from the sun. It was cool to see them talk about lizards like that in good ole Florida

Glad you found your skinks, they are pretty cool looking. Ive used a heater similar to the ones I use in my horses water trough, they worked great but...... when my electric bill showed up for the month I almost had a heart attack, over 900.00 bill due to having that on, its a huge power hog and I ended up going a different route. Hope you and all your animals and family are doing great.

The fact that they were in the building is why they survived I’m sure it got cold but inside cold is one thing and outside cold is a whole nother thing especially when it’s windy! I’m super happy that there okay but this seems to be a eye opener that you may want to go around to all the heat shelter and make sure that all the latches are in good working order just to prevent any other escapes.

live in the world* I'd pick tornadoes over most of the rest of them They usually move in a fairly linier path, they don't spread out very much, you have a bit of warning for them, and aren't absolutely enormous Hurricanes are enormous and do incredible damage to entire cities. Mudslides are completely random with no warning Earthquakes are completely random and can absolutely obliterate cities. Forest fires can spread out over huge areas.

No matter you places weather changes that are out of the norm are shocking and annoying. Also so sorry for the monkey tails. Little turds. Reptiles in general are such escspe artists even if you do everything 100% perfect. It is a good remindeer for all herps owners to check you animals constantly! There is always that one lol. Tbh I won't be surprised if future winters are on and off like this and this starts to become the norm. It might be worth building insulated, sheds inside your enclosures, they don't need to be massive. You could have the bottom of the doors about 3ft off the floor so you can open them and easily step over them when you're going inside and have a smaller door as the main access for the animals at a similar height which is accessed via a ramp. This way especially for the larger lizards they haven't got as much grip/leverage so they shouldn't be able to force their way out as they would be having to try and grip on the wall and would be in a vertical position, rather then just being able to secure themselves by gripping the floor. And during times like cold snaps you can lay the internal ramp down so they can't force themselves out of the smaller animal door You can also put a heater in them on a thermostat so if it drops below a temp you feel comfortable it will turn on. On top of this if you do a deep leaf litter area, like say at the back have 3-4ft of leaf litter for your larger species, this can act as a backup incase you're gone and the heating fails and you reach really low temps as they can burrow down in the leaf litter which will help insulate plus unlike dirt it's easy for you to rummage around in to find them. On top of this having the sheds inside the enclosures would also provide additional basking platforms if you have branches/ramps leading to the roof on the outside of the shed.

I have an indoor pond with 4 red sliders and a paint. As of recently I found one of my heaters stopped working and the water temp has been right at 68-70 degrees Fahrenheit. I was keeping it at 78 degrees. Is this much of a drop going to bother them? I have noticed they aren’t eating as many pellets but still kill the silverside minnows I feed them. I put 2 heaters for smaller aquariums in there hoping to create a slight warm spot for them but the overall surface temp is still 70 degrees.

And I wish I could buy those animals but I live in another part of the world (Indonesia) and it is risky for the animals' life to ship them across the world (although it is very possible), remembering that solomon himself is a pretty old fellow (at least from my understanding through Kenan's videos). And also it is not cost and resource efficient to ship those animals from USA to here, since Indonesia and Papua New Guinea are where these animals come from!😊 Still I hope for the best for those animals and Kenan, and you! if you happen to have animals yourself.
