Caiman lizards are for sure a dream species, but they're something that has to have an abundance of space, time and finances at your disposal in order to be able to properly keep them. Kenan with your property and personal dedication to reptiles, I'd say would be one of the few perfect matches for keeping Caiman Lizards. I think they would be an awesome addition to the kamp. And hats off to Tom and his Nephew for the incredible enclosures and husbandry they're practicing down there.

Caiman lizards are a must! I got one this year as one of my dream animals. It’s essentially a specialized half arboreal half aquatic tegu. Mines been tame as can be and I risked it with a farm bread one as well. It’s a show stopper for anyone who sees it! I’m actually doing a giant South American themed enclosure with them as well-side necks, green basilisk, and fish.

I've never seen Cayman lizards before, but I'm in love! They would be a great species to have, but very time consuming. You can't just feed them once a week like some of your other reptiles. You'd have to cultivate your own snail farm, and have a good relationship with a fishmonger who can bring you the best seafood. That's not going to be cheap. It would certainly be worth the effort, but it's something to take into consideration. Unless Kate or Sophia is willing to help out, you can give up your 3 day bike rides.

Thank you for sharing your encounter with the Caiman Lizards! BTW I believe, if one takes the time to invest this, he'd find out that most animals are pretty smart because they have to make a living out there in the wild - you have to be smart if you want to survive under such conditions (off course with domesticated animals that might be different, as long as their aren't bred especially for intelligence and understanding humans).
