Enjoyed the talk about the Civilian side of Gettysburg. While in town i read a small blue book meant for kids about the battle in town it wasn’t bad but, Betty’s talk was more detailed. My mom was museum educator and if she had met her I’d think think would have had a good time 😊

Grateful the Union won the war because of slavery. My DNA was at Gettysburg on the Union side but as a Mississippian, I have minimal sympathy for any deprivations caused to the town and personal property of its inhabitants. There are places in the south today that never recovered from the shameful destruction imposed on the people of the south both collectively and individually which in turn caused those who were newly freed to suffer the most. War is hell but decent people do not bring war to women and children and truly no matter what, it is never ok. I understand that all countries justify this as a last effort but truly, this is never ok.
