I had to do a little digging but I was surprised myself at the richness and variety of this genre. It's fallen a little out of favor over the years, except for a select few, so many quality works are out of print and not easily available online as well. Thanks for the comment!

@@selvalorestudios I realize that tigers need to be protected and no one supports indiscriminate killing. You are very good at picking stories that avoid pure sport hunting. I salute you for that.

Allen was lucky that he dropped that shotgun slug and even luckier that a big clap of thunder struck just then. A big male tiger can take several shots to bring down with the largest big bore rifle shells. I think we all would be frozen with fear when a tigress stopped at 5 yards and stared us in the face. Excellent Narration ! Great Story !

I was thinking the same thing. Ofcourse that's an impossible situation to find yourself in now. But back then I can only imagine the rush of adrenaline surging through your veins when (and if) you encounter a dangerous tiger on foot. Steady hands and steely nerves are needed.

I’m not sure if it was Corbet or Anderson. The ideal shot, according to one of them is under the left shoulder/ armpit. Smashes straight into the heart. Or dead in between the eyes. Off course.conditions matter.

I absolutely love this. Love the background. The story of the leopard blinded & rendered helpless is common place in India. Shikaris driving along on the road & shining their flashlights into the jungle. Shoot the first two eyes they see & drive away. Anderson has written about this. Love the sound effects. Great job.
@selvalorestudios3 жыл бұрын
That's right, though it was more common in the 1950's when the introduction of the automobile among the Indian nouveau riche crushed the wildlife. Too many people started to emulate the British, who were gone by then. The '50s were probably also the heydays of African safari hunting too with air travel making it easier to get there. This is the period Anderson was at his peak and so was Allen. Love reading all your thoughtful comments. Keep them coming. Thanks!

Love the sound effects you are using for animal calls... My advise to you is to play ambient jungle sounds of night in the background while reading.. would add the aura of bonfire story telling. Thank you.
@selvalorestudios3 жыл бұрын
You might be on to something here Mr. Husayn. I would look into that. Sounds of a crackling fire with a slight rain can be relaxing. I just don't know how I could keep those background sounds during the editing phase when noise needs to be filtered out from the audio.
@mrhusaynful3 жыл бұрын
@@selvalorestudios I would try to use the sound as an overlay track with the jungle track at 20% and the book read at 80%. Its possible in viva video as far as i remember.

I can't believe that Hugh Allen wrote only one book I mean he is as good as a writer like gym Corbett or Kenneth Anderson. I wish he could write more books so we could have more Jungle shikar lower stories like you and other people narrate which is an extinct level of writing novels.
@selvalorestudios2 жыл бұрын
I couldn't agree more. Hugh Allen's writing style is as engaging as the best in this genre. And like you said, these stories from the natural world are some of the best stories ever told.

WELL READ 👏 I think Mr. Allen's writing style reminds me of Ernest Hemingway and Grorge Orwell. No fluff and taut with a nice flow to it. Quite unlike other writers of this era who were more verbose and heavy
@selvalorestudios3 жыл бұрын
That's a fair comparison of their writing styles. Unfortunately for Allen, he wrote in a genre that has fallen a little out of favor over the years so not quite in the same category as those other two literary heavyweights you mention. But I quite agree, he deserves a wider acknowledgement for the quality of his storytelling.

Mr . Singh, a commendable job! May I please ask what Selva means ?

Thanks! It's a wordplay on Jim Corbett's legendary Jungle Lore. Selva just means forest or jungle in Spanish.

I really appreciate your work but it would be monotonous just to hear the stories of leopards and tiger, so please make a video on the black panther of sivanipalli by Kenneth anderson which would be a little more fascinating
@selvalorestudios3 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for sharing your thoughts. A black panther is just a leopard, and not a different animal. The stories here represent different situations, experiences and writing styles of different authors. They are unique in their own way. For instance, nearly all of Corbett's stories revolve around tigers and leopards but nobody would deem them monotonous. These are animals that are charismatic mega-fauna for a reason. As for variety, I plan to read something different in the coming narration. The black panther of sivanipalli is a fantastic story and I will probably do it sometime in the future.
