Thank you for this critique, I 100 percent agree with your concerns. Now that the combat loop has been confirmed to be engaging, I really hope they focus on populating the world and really utilize the space they carved out for themselves. I'm an animator and one of the first things I noticed about the rappys are that they don't blink like they do in PSO2 which can go a long ways of making them feel more alive and less like the rappy suits that ARKS wear that can give off a creepy vibe.

I'm really hoping it turns out well. I love the game, and the best way we can help is by giving our honest thoughts on the matter. That's part of why I made this video and forwarded it onto SEGA, too, as my feedback. I feel like Faux-Hype is can only hurt the game, and we all gotta' try and do our part. Also, good eye on the Rappies. I kind of discounted it, as animation isn't my strong suit, and I could see improvements being added to that later, but you're right, it goes a long way to making it a more enjoyable experience.

@@SilhyGames Yea it's a little frustrating that all I hear about is how good the combat is, which is great and I'm sure a huge part of the beta. Everyone's thoughts just keep ending it there saying that it's near perfect when in reality it has a real uphill battle to get the content loop right. There is a reason why games like Anthem fail despite them having good ideas and combat.

I had a lot of fun in the CBT and I can't wait to play it again, but I had some similar concerns. Mostly, I'm not sure what the core gameplay loop is supposed to be. Like you said often times the world seems empty. In other games, you come to a hub area, do a bunch of tasks related to that hub and then move on to the next area. There was nothing like that in NGS. You just kind of meander around and try to find the largest concentration of other players because that's where the action is. Still plenty of time for them to fix these issues, and I hope they do. Also, the Ranger gameplay was pretty boring. Maybe they should bring back just attacks for specific classes - not all of them, but ranger assault rifle gameplay would definitely benefit from a little more complexity.

Hey, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. Part of the reason I wanted to make this video was because I feel like SEGA and a lot of players who didn't get to experience the CBT are probably getting a lot of false feedback, mostly because I don't feel like anyone is really talking about these issues, you know? Whether because of hype or because we're trying to spare it, or something. I'm still hoping they pick up and make it happen, but I'm worried about how late in the dev cycle we are with NGS, so I guess we'll see, in the end. Sorry about Ranger. I think that might be a byproduct of the ranged classes. They can feel a bit too safe and limited at times. Force had some of the same issues, but I had thankfully paired with fighter to take the edge off when it came up, so I didn't notice as much.

Pretty sure they just made it that way to test the mechabics. But I do hope the world has more to do, like npc's in the world with quests like rescuing or evacuation. Also hope side stuff like fishing returns while also adding new ones.

Were you able to get into the Closed Beta Test 2? Or did you follow along with someone who did? Lemme' know what you're thinking, even if you think I'm just full of it, and that New Genesis is great, as is!

I think you are asking too much for the open world part, i feel like the world its a bit empty because how many players support on the exploration area and adding npc + random patrols could add even more weight to the overall system requirements and they don't want to ask too much so the people who actually play base PSO2 on lower setting can still play ngs. I believe they could implement something like this on the smaller party areas, that would be great. I hope not but maybe my biggest fear can become a reality, NGS its going to launch with small content and its going to have a lot of balance issues, just look how base PSO2 was on Japan over the years, it improved a lot with every update, but those were very slow. Also if the rumor of Microsoft buying sega are true, then it will confirm why the game will launch with little content, just look how many microsoft exclusives launch on early access, big game companies wanna normalize the poor state of live service games at launch. Anyways, im still hyped with NGS, even with his flaws the game looks really fun.

Whether it is asking too much or too little, I personally feel like what NGS is currently will not be enough to keep the majority of player's satisfied. That's the big take here. Furthermore, I don't really think it would be as encumbering as you're indicating; It would only be so if resources were seriously being wasted on existing content and LOD was being neglected, which I don't really think is the case given what we've seen in the CBT2. In any case, I digress. Whether or not the previous games in the series had poor launches, or if Microsoft has a habit of doing so or not, aren't really reasons to be complacent with finding the game wanting, in my opinion. Those are just unfortunate excuses for why it should be lackluster, now. My purpose in pointing all this out and sending this criticism in to SEGA for my CBT participation is that it being lackluster isn't preferable, and here is how I think it could be bettered.
