Seriously sad to see Kings closed. By far one of the best little grocery stores I ever shopped at, high quality items, clean stores, great coffee and bakery.

Use to drive past in the early eighties, it was a Kings, they had this fake Cop, with long hair to his waist wearing a Cop hat directing traffic into the lot, as per Chatham PD to operate the store off of main st. He would dance around and blow the whistle, a real show! Looked forward to it every day! Ha!

I think the Chatham store just closed several days ago. There is still a Kings in Summit & Short Hills. This store has been there at least 25-30 years or more (I remember it being there when I was in high school back in the 90s). I've been to this store a few times (I grew up in an adjacent town, our family has been in the area since 1975). Regarding FoodTown (you mentioned FoodTown)... the only FoodTown in the area was in Berkeley Heights (I worked at that FoodTown). That gradually went out of business, was knocked down and a Kings was built in it's place in Berkeley Heights. The Kings eventually moved to Gillette and the building in Berkeley heights was knocked down and now there are Condos there. The Kings in Gillette has also closed and has been vacant since. I don't think this Kings was ever a FoodTown.

And what about the old HomeGoods location (also old A&P location) in Budd Lake, NJ? Did anyone take over that space? Or is it still vacant? I asked Hobby Lobby to take over that one.

How about the Christmas Tree Shops in Bridgewater? Did they turn into something else? Or are they vacant? I did ask Dick's Sporting Goods to take over that one.

@@dsdshds What's wrong? I know it's really because it's closing, but another grocer is opening in its place afterward. It's good someone is opening a new store after one closes. It would be nice to check on it after they close and during the conversion progress.
