I bought a Demarini NewBreed Mid Load bat for my first ever composite bat bc it was on sale. This thing just killed the softball, in a bad way, when I would hit it well on the sweet spot. After breaking it in. It came with the wrapper from a reputable seller online too. When it was hit it would have this deadening sound to it. Any other bat I used did insanely better. Now I bought the 2022 Miken DeMarini KP23 26 ounce on sale for 100 bucks and it flies off the barrel! Looking back I should've returned the NewBreed bat since it was under the warranty still. My point is that composites can also be dead even after breaking down the composite fibers through usage.

I love the advice for the coaches, on the money. Kids place a lot of confidence in their batting in their bats. I think it's a coping mechanism. Do mess with the batting ju ju.

Bounce the knob (alloy) on concrete. Low pitch sound = dead

Yes, I guess that would be bottom. Just do it gently. You should hear a high pitch sound if the bat still has life.

Not always. Anderson bats are alloy but don't have the high pitch ping as they are multi walled.

The umpire don't throw every bat out that rattles. It's their discretion. When it rattles, the composite is just breaking down(the bat is getting hotter) unless it's new and it rattles, send it back.

So you say a composite wont break on the inside and then a minute later say if you hear something rattling around on the inside it may be broken. Officially confused. Well, not really as its in your best interest to do less returns as a guy who works for a company that sells bats.

LAD Fan yes but it's still not good to hit with them but it is a lot better to use than composite and it's really not gonna damage an alloy bat so yes you can use it but I wouldn't use a new one I would use an old bat for those that's what I do

FALSE, if you own a composite bat and it rattles a bit inside it is far from dead and still has a long lifespan, just some pieces of the barrell walls came off from hard hits. the best is yet to come
