Much of what we see now in the top notch galleries is clever or striking or unusual but is not art because you look at once and you "get it", the "artists" intention. Genuine art is inexhaustible. You can experience it over and over and it retains it's enlivening effect on you. This enlivening quality is from an intuitive power within the work.

We have 2 "art worlds". One is market-driven whose center is in the private gallery, fundamentally a high-end shop that needs to make a profit to survive (or provide good enough tax deductions)...and the art fair. Its medium is painting, printmaking and drawing, commodities easily traded. Its characteristics are"skill", mastering a technique and managing the form. The other "art world" focuses on major institutions such as public galleries/art museums, biennales and universities. Its medium is... anything. Its main characteristics are concepts. (Whereas art may be a branch of philosophy.) Sometimes there are crossovers between these two camps. The bottom line is that Duchamp changed the discourse and definition of art over 100 years ago. The technique is after the fact, but nevertheless essential (even with readymades). Art is either ontological or the stuff of dreams. Or both

Caesar's right to Caesar; an artist makes art in action, in experiencing this is the whole profit of an artist, the remainder is an artistic product for us.

Comparing a cave painting with a VR game today might sound strange but yet they still share a common artistic drive that is not much different from writing a single sentence :) which conveys information across both space and time...

By and large cave paintings are technical drawings. Hunters returned home and described the days hunt, explaining how they hunted and killed the mammoth.

@@haroldpearson6025 many modern paintings depict both domestic and wild animals but I find it very unlikely that these modern artists preyed upon their models though :) ... in my opinion, the level of detail in some cave paintings and the spray of a hand as to imprint its form on the wall, can very easily qualify as an early aesthetic art form...

@@r2c3 modern artists do not have to hunt for their food. If I aske, an artist to explain art they will tell me: "Only an artist can understand art". Art only continues because the rest of us have created the environment for them to do so. Look what happended during the pandemic it was the first thing to go to the wall. Art is very nice but it does not keep the lights on, the refuse collected, the buses running or develop new medicines etc. I do not think that the cave dwellers considered themselves artists. They were to busy keeping warm and feeding themselves.

Law, Science, Commerce & Arts are simply abstract Functions from the mind of an intelligence. Art is basically the consolation/coping mechanism for people who cant understand basic math/physics and need to feel like they arent worthless, even though deep down they know they are, just like pure art is.

Art is expression, both active and passive. As one who experiences is effected and from affection can express. Art is an expressive unfoldment from being acted upon and acting -- motion, generation, transformation; experience. The act of Art is a constructive activity of energy, emotion, experience. To express is to embrace: let what comes come, and to let go of what goes. There's multiple forms of art. I myself prefer a -- higher or more developed -- finer, pure, intellect, contemplative, abstract art. Rock n roll or rap, and then there's classical -- Vibration and energy. Boxing and mma, or ballet -- physical and arduous. One is more course, the other fine and pure. However, Art, we are influenced by the Art of God: cosmos, stars, gods, laws, divinity, intellect, nature, elements, being, emotion, experience, contemplation, life, color, contrasts, wonder, imagination, acts, seasons, motions, transformations. Art -- experience and expression, from different states, perspectives, Art is applied in everything we do especially if we are passionate; art is a creative & intellectual quality as if a reverence and a respect for all life, seeking to do the best we can do, a sense of gratitude -- a cooperative activity between the participant(Artist), participating in this realm and appreciating so to add a finishing touch , as if working with God side by side, an intimate relationship, the one within. Art isn't only experiential, it is the flow, motion, generation of reality, and perspective had from spiritual growth may reckon the higher beauties in the images here, thus art work becoming more Divine. Heart is the seat of the Soul, where emotion is, the etheric body, the Soul, and when one acknowledges the virtues, divinites, beauties, higher intelligible realities, are they inspired and an aspirant after, and enthusiasm occurs, the essence or life force overflowing,... Everything is expression, from wars, disputes, bad events, and only when one's being acknowledges the higher realities does expression become Art and constructive and divine so inspiring others as a compass directed towards goodness and meaning -- art is having found to some degree the meaning. They say in this world today: there's those of order, law, society....and then there's those of art, music, creativity. 2 boxes of types of people. The Truth is, those of the high Arts are of a higher, divine order than those in the world who makes these hedious laws of today. The beauties, intellect, wisdom, understanding, meaning comes from the higher intelligible realities. Our world leaders are narcissistic, they have no emotions, and there's no goodness in their words. The speration, the two boxes of people above I mention, are designed by evil men trying to keep Divinity, God, righteousness, Intellect, Reason, creativity, Life, out from the governmental systems of this world today. Art is divine.
