I love watching older electromechanical machines work! The engineering that went into them amazes me!

Some of you may find this interesting some may not. I don't really care... But I belong to an organization that has several large earthmoving and mining machines that use Ward Leonard electric controls and they have these same boxes in them with similar circuitry for various operations, they are significantly simplified as there is simply a lever that you push or pull to change direction or speed. But it's amazing that in the 50s and 60s some the world largest Earth moving machines were powered by AC current, that had massive motors turning DC generators in the back then had these style of relay boxes for their functions, of course you couldn't hear them clacking away because of all the fans and pumps and gear noise, so I find it awesome that you can see and hear them and they make such fun noises when on the Earth movers it was just deafing noise and you have tons of hearing protection on. You can however hear the clank and release of the brakes that as soon as the levers are in neutral the brake sets and you can hear and see that but that's only because the brake is a band usually about a foot wide around a wheel that's about three ft across and when it camps down it could have up to 700tons hanging from it, and in the blink of an eye go to almost freefall or full power the other direction.

Thank you for the valuable videos, I have an OTIS elevator and I would like to maintain the control panel and safety system (contactors, relay, levers, switches), but the date of manufacture is very old (1980), can you help me and tell me where can I find spare parts for him.
