Closing off 2020 with a bull elephant and a Verney Carron Double rifle in .577NE

Africa's Sportsman Show host Stefan Fouché joins his good friend Richard Eales on an elephant hunt up in one of the most northeastern parts of South Africa.
Richard carries his Verney Carron Double rifle in .577NE loaded with 750gr Woodleigh Hydro solids. Stefan has his .500NE also in a Verney Carron shooting a 570grain Woodleigh Hydro.
The guys end up getting a pretty good bull elephant.

So how is a 375 h&h for elephant . I know people talk about Bell using small calibers and that it is not really practical but is the 375h&h too small for this type of game as well.

probably, but you can do it

.375 is perfectly ok for elephant hunting. It's the legal minimum for a reason. That being said .416 is a much better option while still being much easier on the shooter than the larger double rifles.

For the simple reason that they are, in certain areas, overpopulated for the food available, they therefore destroy trees so that other species are pushed to the limit, and either move out, or die, this can be proven by a 4 ft high electric fence which will keep Elephant out, it then regenerates to support other species.

Elephants are herd Animals. The big, old, Bull Elephants monopolize the Cow Elephants, but they are too old to properly "service" their harem. So the herd stagnates and few Caves are born... but shoot that old guy and all the young stud Elephants start humping like mad. All the Cows have Caves and the herd actually grows... The old Grandpa Elephants leads the herd from the water holes to grazing lands. Often by routes that now go through farm land... Shot that old Grandpa and the younger Elephants can be directed away from People and Farm lands... Elephants are extremely detrimental to farming, they trample crops, and eat like Elephants. As more and more farm land is needed to feed the people, sometimes an Elephant herd must be reduced, managed, and controlled... If they are going to be able to coexist with the people of their region.
