Enjoyable and informative presentation. My concern with standard care of C. Difficile is the following: 1) Nasogastric feeding can cause hyperosmolar diarrhea so it places patients at risk of a false diagnosis. 2) Metronidazole causes cancer in rodents. What kind of cancer is not mentioned, even in the required FDA label information. An example of censorship in the medical literature, and as you might expect from any cancer causing agent, there is a birth defects risk

I had cdiff for 8 months. Nearly didnt make it. Was making plans to leave. Was misdiagnosed and given augmentin that I didnt need in the first place! Iam furious @ this Dr that put me on Augmentin! I went to the ER 15 times before I was admitted. Lost 44 lbs malnurished and about lost my mind to this monster! Was gaslite by ER doctors, humiliated, bounced around, misdiagnosed Dr would say stomach bug- to get rid of me. I finally found a GI Doctor that saved my life and didnt give up on me. What saved me was Deficid along w an infusion that goes along with it and a probiotic called VSL #3 which is a perscription w 112.12 billion cultures that also help fight the CDIFF. Plzzzzz try to avoid antibiotics if at all possible and if you have to be on one start taking a probiotic right away w it ( i was never told to take a probiotic) dont give up keep fighting and be your own advocate. God bless those that currently have cdiff now, and those that lost the battle from that horrible horrible moster of a disease

I've been sick since 14 dropped from 120 to 80 pounds, constant pain, etc. I can't even figure out how to get refered to a Gastro. I decided to order my own Calpractin test online today and I'll figure out where to take it depending on how the results come back. I definitely don't have C-diff though, I have something else but I don't know what. Ppl are telling me to look into IBD. I can't get doctors to do any real test and colonoscopy has 50+ age restrictions and I only just turned 18. What did you do to get doctors to finally do something?

I am 61, got bit by a Dog twice . 7 months apart. The antibiotics killed my good bacteria and toxin A& Toxin B attacked me both times. August 2022 is when I was recovering. They don't test for toxin A Toxin B again if diarrhea has stopped. My first test was solid fecal which tested positive. The first round the ER had to take a CT scan to make sure that I did not have diverticulitis along with CDIFF. That was negative in March. Now In November 2022 I have inflammation of the sigmoid intestine with mild diverticulitis, extremely painful. No blockage they said but since November 22, 2022 I would be lucky to have cleared 5 cups of fecal matter. Now with no cysts, no pus, just inflammation the Dr. Has me on 1500 metronidazole and 1000 Cipro ciproflox N , the pharmacist said that for sure the ciproflox will definitely give me CDIFF again. Plus Cipro can destroy the archillis tendon. Spelt wrong I am so tired and in so much pain. The doc says no over the counter pain pills , no narcotics. Just clear liquid. Antibiotics for 10 days plus polyethylene glycol to get more of my already loose stuff out. I just need anti inflammatory cure so stuff can heal and work properly. Is what I think . If I follow Drs above advice I think I will die or be crippled or a colonoscopy,or even an autoimmune disease at some time

My 92 year old mother has had Cdif infection many many times. She is given antibiotics for UTI. She has chronic yeast infection on her skin. She has been MRSA positive. She has had many staph infections. Chronic cycle of antibiotics then diarrhea then other infections then more antibiotics!.... The nursing home does not seem to have an understanding of how to properly treat Cdif or how contagious and serious it can be.

When my mother was in the hospital with a bladder infection I noticed nearly every patients door had a yellow tag warning of infectious desease My mother then got C- diff twice. The majority of C-DIFF recepients are women. Ask yourself why? Because women are more prone to bladder infections due to poop in the vaginal area. This is the bacteria that causes bladder infections. C-DIFF is a byproduct of trying to get rid of the infection. Here in California we now give probiotics to patients receiving IV antibiotics and I am here to witness that the doors are no longer covered with yellow tags and people are living through their VI antibiotic treatment s and going home. I'm fact SNF's are nearly empty because people here are no longer being sent to SNF's for hospital after care for C-diff.

This is my 4th C. Deff colitis and my symptoms were send straight from hell. Most of my symptoms were on the complicated list in fact I was so out of it mentally I didn't know where I was, I was falling asleep sitting in the waiting room falling off my chair, rocking back and forth, couldn't articulate my words to explain my symptoms to the triage nurse. I thought was I going to die, I'm 42 healthy, had routine surgery got 2 large abscesses the treating Dr used one of the antibiotics named here in strong doses bc he didn't want to lance and drain it. I was so sick I felt like I was poisoned.

@@grimreefer213 if you’re taking clindamycin you have a very good chance of getting c. Diff. I’d stop taking it before a disaster happens and ask for a different one with less risk of c. Diff developing and then taking over your gut flora like a freight train.

My aunt, 76, was given an antibiotic which caused it. She is in hospital right now, her fourth relapse. The smell was something to be believed. I've been disinfecting everything! If she wasn't taking Sutherlandia Frutescens, Fulvic acid and discontinuing her big pharma drugs, I don't think she would have made it. I'm so grateful to God she hasn't died. But, I'm taking her to Cape Town to have a fecal matter transplant soon. We also use a product called Rawbiotics. It's made here in South Africa. I've ordered vit D, as well, to build her immunity.

I’m 53, I almost lost my job & was behind on my bills, bc disability didn’t pay me until a month after being off work.. my job gives private disability… on top of that.. that doctors were very tight with giving me doctors notes to be off work… I had colitis & c.diff … the pain was horrible & ulcerative…. I couldn’t go diaherra in the hospital for 2 weeks in the hospital… this was in Kaiser Los Angeles… smh

@maryhawker5003 Жыл бұрын
JJ, why in the world did you gloss over fidaxomicin by spending literally 3 seconds just saying its name when it’s the FIRST LINE METHOD OF TREATMENT for 1st time occurrence & cuts the rate of recurrence drastically? There’s new guidelines for c. Diff that came out a couple years ago, telling doctors to do fidaxomicin before any other antibiotic. Cost is greater, yes, but insurance companies are now waking up to the fact that multiple rounds of antibiotics & hospitalizations cost way more than treating it the first time with the best antibiotic there is for c. Diff.
@Novemberrain1116 ай бұрын
Fidaxomin is crap. And so is vancomycin it only makes worse and prolongs cdiff. I know I a severe case for 8 mos. Deficid along w the infusion that goes along w it works better then any of it. Iam a witness

My sincere condolences. But,... why don't U use this sad contretemps and knowledge to your serendipitous advantage, for lack of a better word? Look at Seres therapeutics stock, MCRB. They have an anti C. Diff. drug and a PDUFA date with potential FDA approval on April 26th. If approved, your uncle's passing will prove your serendipity to make a lot of money from your knowledge of this medical condition. I'm talking from experience: had a family member who ages ago fell victim to his peanuts allergy. It proved serendipitous in hindsight, for the thorough first hand knowledge made me invest in Aimmune who had developped an anti peanut allergy treatment and who eventually got bought out by Nestlé Health. Incidentally, said Aimmune is now in collaboration & co development with Seres therapeutics of this anti C diff treatment. My condolences again to your bereavement.
