Thank you for showing your current wash routine. Would you do a video on cloth diapering pet peeves? Or wool pet peeves? I had this idea because I've been having a few pesky issues that I wonder if you've had. Here's a rundown: My son's diaper falls/hangs low with pullover soakers. This happens even with a dry diaper. It's sometimes the fastener coming undone. Suspenders aren't full proof, since he unbuckles the clips. The diaper fold (modified pickman) sometimes is too short for the absorbency to fit snug under a wool diaper belt. So sometimes the front comes undone or hangs loose. My son is super active as a 23 month-old. The diaper belt is also more involved than a snappie. It's slipping it on/off, plus tucking cloth underneath on all sides. I woulnt want to handle a poopslosion with it. Rodrigo hates laying still for a change, so I try to be quick. It's easy taking a diaper off while he's standing, but fastening a new one, nevermind. Stretchy flats are not grippy. My son has gotten himself caught on the carpet twice with the teeth of a snappie coming down the stairs. It's a funny mishap, but not for him. A dulce de leche from Fruit of the Womb doesn't last the whole night. That's two thick stretchy flats sewn together. I've always liked changing Rodrigo throughout the night anyway, but I'm leaning towards disposables for nighttime. Two of my merino wool shorties are very thin (low gsm). The urine goes right through them, even with lanoline treatment. So I hardly use those because...accidents. I could go on. Like the stickiness of lanoline after the covers have dried, the residue in the sink, and the staining from normal use. I still want the best for my son and will continue to use wool, but I look forward to potty independence.

Sounds like you could make a video on this topic! We all have our own preferences and expectations. I think a lot of it comes down to finding a type of wool cover that works for your baby. Were the thin ones Engel? This time around I've been using mostly wrap style wool covers, since they help hold the diaper in place. That way I can use origami folded stretchy flats under without a fastener. They don't stay perfectly, but it works for us. I don't use Snappi without a cover over, since those things are sharp! And we tried a diaper belt and pad folded flat the other day (9M old) and about 2 minutes later I looked over and he was diaperless. I think diaper belts work best before babies get mobile. I like them for newborns. Were you using a diaper belt under a cover? I don't really trust them to hold the diaper in place. As far as nighttime solutions, I'm planning to try something new soon that I'm hoping will work. But of luck figuring out what works for your family! Let me know if you figure out some solutions. 💜 Heidi

I just re-read this all again, and personally, at that age, I would consider teaching the skills for potty independence and ditching the diapers. Here are some resources for potty training: www.ecpeesy.com/potty-training-supplies/

@@ECpeesy Thanks Mrs. Heidi. I've thought of posting a video or two, but I don't have that personality. Maybe someday. I agree with the potty training. I wanted to start once he hit his second birthday so that I can prepare for those observation days. I also prefer my wrap covers. I have only two. They are babee greens, which are my favorite. The thin covers are wool up from Diaper Free and Engel, like you guessed. Rodrigo always uses a cover over the diapers. Thanks for the feedback.

Would you recommend a diaper pail like the ubbi for a hamper to stash cloth diaper inserts before you can get to washing them ? Just for the smell?
@ECpeesy

Actually, I prefer an open basket type hamper. I think air flow helps keep the ammonia smell at bay. Ubbi is pretty, but it is meant for disposable diapers. 💜 Heidi

This metal drying rack was provided by the apartment we are renting in Phuket. I've used drying racks from Amazon that aren't quite as sturdy: amzn.to/3o1qmUx
