When I first started my office job, I was pretty tame with my clothes. Finally got the approval to wear what I wanted and I was asked "Are you going to a costume party?" 🙃

That's fun because I thought I was dressing relatively tame at the office but when I showed my colleagues pictures from an actual costume party where I was dressed as a witch, they said "oh of course, because you're goth, right?". I don't even call myself goth, I wear all kinds of weird clothes. I guess they're pretty conservative so their criteria for calling someone goth are loose.

I'm binging all your stuff (love your personality, humor and style!) so I'm a year late but I'm in my 30's and I'm finally allowing myself to really dress how I have always wanted to: dark, lacey, more witchy with heavy emphasis on celestial things. I wouldn't dare identify myself as a goth as I don't know near enough about the subculture and have only dabbled into some music so far (I'm primarily a metalhead but have always preferred the flowy lace gothic look). If someone wants to insult me and call me a poseur, that's fine. I love my clothing and accessories and feel so happy wearing it all, and that's all I care about and what anyone should care about. What makes them feel like their true self and brings joy to their life. :)

Poser was a term used during my Gen-X. Never heard it applied to a millennial before! If you're a "goth poser" then you're the most beautiful poser I've ever seen. I'm a fundamentalist Christian and the goth seen where I live in the Ozarks is not very strong, but nevertheless, I'll admire a romantic soul such as yours whenever I can! I love the burned velvet so much. Actually reminds me of something I had a kid, but the memory is so old I don't quite remember what the item was... That guy got even angrier from the call out. Wow you became goth in college?!?!? What a PoSeR! Who knew someone would claim to discover they're goth during the most formative and best time/age to discover themselves? GASP! Jokes aside no time is too late to discover who you really are. Everyones life is different and many factors can affect why someone was able to discover/express themselves more freely during a certain time. Not everyone has that luxury to fully be themselves, whether it's because of judgment from family, work, religion, friends, or just not having enough confidence or financial means at the moment.

My aesthetic changes between 90s Grunge, Whimsigothic, Hippie, Hippiegoth, Celestial Gothic, Everyday Goth, Bog Witch, Punk Grunge, Mushroomcore, and Girly boho lol. Anytime I wear "Goth" type looks, I get told I'm "dressing up" because I don't have piercings or tattoos, and I currently have my natural hair colour. It's annoying AF!

Another great haul, another great goth day 💜 I got my ears pierced recently and SHIEN has some pretty cool designs but is the quality good or is it just cheap plastic? I really want to purchase some of them but I'm a bit scared. Thank you! A lot of the earrings themselves are made out of plastic but the hooks that go into your ears are metal. There are some metal and resin earrings too, just depends on which ones you’re looking at! 🖤🖤🖤
