About the whole accent thing, from what I remember during the 1800's rich people started talking in a more 'sophisticated' way in England, and so of course others started to copy it to sounds more proper. Then it just kind of became the norm. So its not we lost an accent, they gained one. Funny enough, the New England accent (in general, not the stereotype Bostonian one) is supposed to be about as close as it gets to what English would have sounded like before they switched, which is weird when you realize that people like Shakespeare and George Washington would sound more like that than the modern British accent we usually associate with them.

I mean they didn't gain an accent either.. their accent just changed in a different direction than the American accents.. it's not like Americans dont have an accent.. everybody does
@zzyzxlol32022 жыл бұрын
was about to comment this too lol
@indiaextra43062 жыл бұрын
Well the flaw in this theory is that, just in England itself, there are many "accents" other than the "BBC accent" and none of them sound like american. So clearly something changed in the american accent somewhere.

When talking about the Alkohol in Germany: I think(as a german) the most german thing ever is, that the state had to implement a rule that Water has to be less expensive then Bier. The Reason was that Bier usually was less expensive, because if you drink one bier you will usually drink more xD

I love how they don't know how to interact with people at a club. All you have to do is pay somebody a compliment and start being genuine and inquisitive, and conversation ensues from there. You don't have to be the life of the party or the coolest person around to talk to strangers. You just have to be a real person.

About the accents, probably migration played an important role, like for example New York accent is heavily influenced by Irish, Jewish and Italian way of speaking. The same happens in other parts of the world, in Argentina at some point they received a lot of Italian migration and that changed their Spanish accent with Italian inflections

Yup, in Japan, if you see people sleeping on the streets or anywhere, just check if theyre alive, if yes, leave them be cause sometimes Office workers or drunk people sleeps whenever and wherever sleepiness gets them. I have a Japanese Uncle and he works for a big company in Japan and I shit you not, one day, he was so late and not come home yet and we found him using his GPS, we found him sleeping in a playground bench near the train station. He said he felt drowsy all of a sudden and just sit and slept for 2hrs.

1:06:36 "They teach history at an age where no-one cares about history" YES! Teenagers don't have enough frame of reference to apply the lessons we learn from the past mistakes of others. History classes should be mandated as a part of the work day for people working in their 20's (and all college degrees should include a comprehensive history class).

The reason england has more letters in their version of english is actually not them adding things, it's america removing them. When the printing press made its way to America, businesses wanted to save money, and one way to save money was to reduce the amount of letters used, reducing the number of letters they had to pay for, so they removed some letters they deemed redundant

41:22 In my English class (I'm not native-english speaker) we talked about what accent did most people use in the 16th century, and my teacher told us that it was probably the american accent that was for the poor people, and the english accent was the noble accent, but after the American Revolution, more and more english people started to use the noble accent, and it became the english
