The Mills Family

The Mills Family

5 жыл бұрын

In this video, Tom and I went to Pizza Hut for our monthly date night. (This was the first time since Hannah's birth that we left her home on date night. We were both kind of sad about that, but it was a long night so I'm glad she was home.) During our dinner, the kids called and Miss Claudia was full of tattling stories. We then stopped at Home Depot before commencing our monthly Walmart shopping trip. (We shop weekly at our local grocery store as well as ordering some things in bulk and we also eat food we've preserved from our garden.) We've continued to work to lower our spending for our family of 11. This month I bough ingredients to make some of our things at home. It's such a learning process to find recipes that work and change habits to being a producer of what we need rather than a consumer. It's kind of stressful making these changes, but also satisfying and fun. I've failed miserably at making liquid dish soap, but I haven't given up yet. My laundry pods and dishwasher pods have worked well. I made a bunch of coconut oil laundry soap bars to use in future batches of laundry soap pods. It was such an easy method that I'm happy to continue making them in the future. Dried cheese powder was a marginal success, along with the chocolate; I'll be getting a gift for my birthday next month that I'm hoping will make both of those foods better as we go along. I sewed a batch of small cotton towers to use in place of some of our paper towels. Those work fine and I'm going to make many more next month and the month after so we'll eventually have 72 of them. We haven't tried the homemade hairspray yet since we haven't run out of our store-bought spray, but the homemade cooking spray has been a success. The homemade school glue works really well, but I'm not sure about storage so that's something to continue working on. My corn tortillas were a flop. (I make flour tortillas all the time and I'm sure I'll improve on the corn ones.) I was really happy with my herbal pain relievers. I also made some herbal cold and virus pills that kept me from getting the sickness that has swept through our community recently. Finally, the chips I made have been a resounding success. Tom makes everyone try them because he loves them so much. They're tasty! (Oh, and I also made washing soda and baking powder.) As I get better at making things, I'll start sharing recipes.
This month we also got our spring and summer clothes. I'll have a video coming out with the clothes haul after I finish the sewing that I'm doing for the girls.

Such a beautiful vlog, especially the ending when they pull up and the kiddos are still awake at midnight waiting on their mom and dad, and you hear the frogs (or whatever) croaking at the pond. Home is where the ❤️ is. Andrea made sure of it. Tom is a great father, I pray most of all for his strength to endure the loss of his wife/ best friend. For the kids I have no words... Their loss is unimaginable. I didn't know of Andrea till this week when her passing was announced on KZbin. In just a few days she has taught me a wealth of knowledge, and has humbled me beyond words. My love and prayers are with Tom and the family. God bless you all! 😭💕💔

I'm going back and watching all your old videos every day. It's so nice to see you two just having fun like a couple of teenagers. These videos will be such a gift to your family over the coming years. What a legacy. Our family joins you in your grief, and you're in our prayers. I wonder if you'd consider monetizing the old videos? It would be cool for Andrea to give a little cheque to your family from heaven every month.

Since I can’t sleep because of my daughters current situation after the accident. I have been watching old videos of my fav family. I truly Miss Andrea... She would say why worry what’s the worst thing to happen, look at the worse case scenarios, no matter what things will work out, you will figure it out, you will get thru it. I loved seeing you smile talking to the girls in the beginning at the pizza place, you looked so happy. I’m so sorry for you Tom and your beautiful children 😢 I pray for you all 🙏🏼 I love hearing her sweet voice and seeing her beautiful smile and let’s not forget her precious giggle ❤️ She always leaves me with such a sense of peace🧎‍♀️🙏🏼💙

A place I just realized has a ton of homeschool supplies is the dollar tree. Usually I spend 30 to 40 on office type supplies and notebooks. At the dollar tree I spent $10. And it was the same brands I used from Walmart.

For somethings dollar tree is cheaper. But not most. Folders and notebooks you can get them cheaper at Staples. Crayons, markers and pens definitely better at anywhere else than dollar tree. And another thing... off brand markers and crayons have asbestos in them.

I also shop 'clearance' both in store & on line & have got some amazing bargains. I always thought your little girl's dresses were so sweet. I applaud you for making your own soaps & detergents. But, I can't help it when I can get an outfit for less than $3 on clearance AND bonus- each piece can be paired with something else for even more options! :-) I can't even shop the Goodwill anymore for that cheap. They want $2.79 per piece!

Darian Weldon fish oil has helped all of my dogs - I sprinkle it in their food. From small shi tzu to a large mix dog. Just like with people it helps with skin, hair, and joints. I now buy my dog food with salmon & peas, so I haven’t had to supplement. The dog food smells like fish oil at least. Lol!

You might enjoy melting wax. You can get a Mainstays wax warmer for under $7 and then pick up wax packs for under $1 or $2 at Walmart. I just started in the spring and i love it. There's no smoke and you can mix scents and have scent all day. It's really fun and my kids like it too. Wax melter people love the Walmart wax warmer and the wax packs there so they are good ones. They have seasonal scents which are fun to get and try.
