I live with my boyfriend and everything has been great but the only thing we’ve ever argued on was him not respecting my boundaries and lying to me so he doesn’t hurt me, when he knows i hate lying and would rather the truth so we can talk about it and move on. I’ve always listened to his boundaries and accepted them because that’s how I would want mine respected. I’m the type of person who gets a problem and immediately looks to fix it but he’s the type of person to leave it to one side and try to forget about it. That’s where we struggle to communicate. I like problems fixed but he likes to forget they existed. I was wondering if it was due to maturity because we are both 19 and going on 20 at the beginning of next year. Do you have any advice? ❤️

the response to the breadwinner question was superb "the question shouldn't be how i feel about her being the breadwinner, instead it should be celebrated that another female is crushing it"

I'v seen their one more video as well(not on this channel) where he said that he has some u knw thoughts in his mind so that he could provide Jenn's financially n her family. I dnt understand that. N here too it's like she is the bread winner. Doesn't seem like Ben isn't employed. I m sorry I didn't get it.. cn someone plz explain.
@rheosmin1064
@rheosmin1064 3 жыл бұрын
@@gargeesharma2630 Breadwinnner usually means the person in the family that provides, but can also be used to mean someone who generates the most income for the family which is what the questions seems to point to. Jenn being the breadwinner doesn't necessary mean that Ben is unemployed or that he doesn't contribute to the household (be it monetarily or even just taking care of the house). Him expressing his desire to financially take care of her and her family can also just translate to him wanting to take care of her as a husband and lessen the financial burden for her family however they can. Plus he is still working on finding other paths for his career, doesn't mean it can't change in the future.
@inkasaraswati7625
@inkasaraswati7625 3 жыл бұрын
I really like how Ben said "It'd be hard for you not to be the breadwinner", which opens a whole new perspective for me. With how hard Jenn works, and we all know that she is type A and achiever, it'd be soul crushing to see her not as successful as she is. Gender role is bogus anyway, but their relationship and their answer to that question really brings home the fact that couple's dynamics should be about each individual person and not some arbitrary rules from society.

Yes! I normally hate "couples" stuff because a lot of women are so deeply invested in the image of love, they come to youtube to put on a show. But Jenn always shows up and talks about the WORK and I just can't get enough. It's a utility and a service to others instead of a vanity project with a raw file literally titled "monument to my greatness" LOL and I stan.

Just wanted to add that’s it’s not weird to not fight with your SO! It’s always bothered me that people say it’s healthy to fight when it can also be healthy to not fight.😸 I’ve been with my boyfriend for 5 years, living together almost the whole time, and we’ve never once raised our voice at each other, never said or did anything irrational or immature for the sake of messing with the other person, never did anything intentionally selfish, and never snapped at each other when we’re angry, and we’ve hardly been angry with each other it’s usually for external things like work and family. It’s not the we don’t disagree ever, it’s that we approach everything with empathy, we pause and take a step back when we’re frustrated so we don’t take it out on anyone, we communicate our feelings, and we immediately apologize and calmly talk things out when we do something that upsets the other person. We just both really had our priorities straight from the get-go and have never lost sight of what’s important, that the basis of everything we do is love. This the first and only relationship I’ve had like this- I haven’t even reached this level of harmony with any of my family or friends that I’ve known longer than him, so all my other relationships are way more average and typical with arguing and stuff lol but because my boyfriend and I are so grounded with each other, it’s teaching me to treat all my relationships this way and it’s helped me grow so much. We are definitely not the only ones like this, Simon and Martina have been married for 10+ years and they also have never fought and for the same reasons, I highly recommend their videos talking about their relationship- they have many so just look through their channel
@raenewnham7490

My relationship is the same way! Early on we decided that nothing is worth fighting over, and we can just be mature and discuss the issues. The only real fight we had was due to a miscommunication and taught us both a lot. It’s all about learning about your SO. Some people are quick to argue and fight, others aren’t. I don’t think it’s weird at all to not argue. 😊 it’s refreshing
@imjennim

Thanks for sharing this! I've never been in a relationship where they haven't been arguments, so it's really refreshing to hear that there are healthy relationships where tiffs don't happen. Sounds like you and your partner have your heads screwed on right. ♥️

@@heatherking3391 When you only watch someone online yet think you understand everything about them and their intimate relationships in the name of "psychology" .... this is absolutely inappropriate, rude, and just completely unnecessary. I have a degree in psychology and if I am to match your assumption making, I would guess you're projecting some insecurities onto them, because from what I can tell, they have a pretty healthy and realistic relationship. Even mentioning they go to couples therapy is so refreshing and a great thing for an audience to see.

Gray Glider Girl Same. I’ve been with my husband almost 15 years now (known each other for 25+ years). We rarely fight or have arguments. We agree on an open communication and allow ourselves to grow with each other and for each other. We can’t be anymore different, but we enjoy that difference in our relationship. I don’t want to sound cheesy, so I don’t say this often to people. But marriage has been amazing and I love every part of it.

I think it’s so interesting how there was a question about the feelings of a female being the bread winner in a relationship. I loved bens response! I feel as though this would never even be a question if Ben was the bread winning (hint hint, patriarchal society seen as normative). Thank god we’ve made progress where a female can be the bread winner and not. be shamed; but I can’t wait until this doesn’t need to be something that has to be addressed and is just assumed as normal as a man being a bread winner! Go Jen and Ben!

I so, so appreciate you and Ben openly talking about attending couples therapy and acknowledging that your relationship and your communication isnt always perfect - you argue, things can get heated, you had to set certain boundaries, etc. It’s so humanizing, and I feel like couples who are going through the same thing can find a lot of relief in knowing theyre not alone. My boyfriend and I have been considering couples therapy for awhile and I think this video really convinced me to go for it. Thank you for always being so real!
