Cloud's entire story was about Tifa hehe as expected. I love this so much.

This shows off an interesting dynamic to cloud here with his new self and old self battling each other He says that he thought he would be happier seeing Tifa again but he didn’t feel like himself. This is because his identity was merged with Zack’s based off his stories both about SOLDIER and Aerith Both Zack and Cloud felt guilt that Tifa got so badly injured at the reactor so that guilt towards her wouldn’t had change. It’s also interesting to note that the exterior cloud is being cold and standoffish to Tifa but the ‘real’ Cloud in his head is telling him to be kind and helpful to her

Cloud’s definitely never had a drink before that scene that plays out later in the main game. I bet he heard about the drink he told Tifa about from older coworkers when he worked for shinra but still didn’t fully understand what they were talking about lol

@@darknessknows1235 ya it was plot armor. well its not like sephiroth is a bulky buff guy either. anger boost usually lends a hand in those situations. kinda like the hulk or super saiyan but not as epic. 😆 well it kinda is important tho when it was clouds own childhood dream to be a soldier on the same level as seph. lol nice fantasy tho. he kinda did get his wish by cheating tho. kind of just sad tho zack who was a true soldier and earned his rank... perished. but hopefully the remake games wlll give the lad proper happy fate. sephiroth as well who also never wanted to be soldier or hero but just wanted a normal life.

Tifa was always Cloud's anchor to his true self. Even though Cloud woke from his severe mako poisoning following Zack's death, his mind was completely in pieces. The moment he laid eyes on Tifa, he was able to pull himself somewhat together. The problem was that the persona he built was based on his desire to be a 1st Class SOLDIER, which he boasted he would be to Tifa, and why he hid his face at Nibleheim. The Jenova cells worked its magic to create that persona for Cloud.

I think the persona was also based somewhat on tifa’s memories of Cloud as an aloof loner kid. I believe in one of the ultimanias it says that the reason cloud was able to “wake up” here was because the Jenova cells in him actually looked at tifa’s memories of him and pulled on those. So tifa was doubly necessary to him waking up.

Without Zack dying, Cloud never would have woken from the Coma. Without Tifa, he wasn't going to wake from his delirious state.

as for Jenova, don't think so. In crisis core upon arriving at the mako reactor in Nibelheim, it's an order from Sephiroth to "keep the young lady safe" in reference to Tifa. (she wanted to go in the reactor but it's not allowed) if i recall correctly. Probably a memory of sorts getting mixed in.. like the memories of Zack talking about being a merc in the back of the truck.

I feel like it's meant to be inner kid Cloud, the same one we see at the end of Temple of the Ancients and that Tifa talks to in the Lifestream. The whole Cloud side-story felt like it was being told from Cloud's POV during the latter, honestly.

In JP, it actually says, "protect Tifa". But the wording is similar to Sephiroth's words to him, "protect the young lady". I guess it's his memory of that time. Cloud repeated Sephiroth's command in his head, but changed the "young lady" with "Tifa".

This what happened to Cloud was all on HOJO!!! Cloud not remembering who he is thanks to being sealed in a Mako pod for 4 years which caused the Mako poisoning in his brain and his vegetable state until he saw Tifa and the Jenova cells inside him sorta read her mind and created Cloud's fake Ex-SOLDIER persona which is rude and closed off.

Woa, the “Take care of the lady” line gave me chill. That is possible Jenova/ Sephiroth speaking to Cloud. Maybe they needed to access the Jenova body in the Shinra building and a group of anti Shinra with the help of a super soldier with Jenova cell can just do that.

Wait a minute, Tifa doesn’t know about salty cocktails here, the day before the bombing mission. But in Rebirth, it was shown that Wedge showed her the trick and it became her signature drink: the Cosmo Canyon. Because it was a well known drink, to the point of being famous outside of Midgar, Tifa must have known about it before this point, because she mixes the drink for Cloud the day after, and day after that Sector 7 collapsed. Is this another timeline?

I think this is going over the OG timeline. Hence why the payment in this one goes as 1,000-1,500 gil instead of what the Remake had, which was 2,000.

The only thing they did was add twist and expanded on certain things to make it feel refreshing and new. Having a shot for shot remake would be dull as hell.
