For those who Don't know, this is a canon event..... Infact every events in ffvii are canon events even the collaboration ones, by using sephiroth's dialog about the lifestream; "the lifestream is the essence of the planet, a churning river of memories, as they come together and drift apart... A story given shape, an unprecedented tale.... Another posibility"..... This context of the lifestream makes every event and collaboration events as part of the layers of existence in ffvii verse

You're right I remember reading an interview by Nomura saying Cloud going to Smash and the FF tactics world fighting alongside Ramza is entirely possible with how the lifestream works when he falls into it in mideel.
