Thanks Lorenz, both for watching the video and for offering feedback! My original intent when taking the videos is to recap and learn from what I see. Second is to share to get whatever it is that we get from doing this. If you watch any one of the videos I've shared you will find any mistakes I make left in them, because the intent isn't to be a movie star, but again to learn from. While hard to do, and not get ones feelings hurt I try to leave my ego at home when I fly and to carry it over to these modest recaps that I share. With that said I took your advice seriously and just watched this video back in its entirety to see for myself this weakness that you noticed. At first I thought you were all wet on this, because every instruction from ATC was replied to with a read back. About half way through approach gave an advisory on current ATIS and altimeter I didn't give a read back but that's okay there as it wasn't an instruction. Then fast forwarding the first time I didn't give a read back to an instruction it's kind of questionable as to whether it needed one. I had been cleared for the approach and I was established, therefore the airspace was mine effectively. When I was passed to TWR the controller who had just called herself ground to another aircraft began to laugh at herself for doing so as she talked to him. I checked in and she told me to continue the approach. This is where I replied with simply "9MP. " You are right! In fairness, this was a nothing interaction however because even to not continue the approach I had to continue the approach to go missed. Kind of like saying the sky is blue or the ocean is deep really, is a read back required for something like that? Then came another advisory call from TWR that a plane would be landing on the left runway to which I just gave my number for a read back. Again, probably I should have read back this time, or said looking for traffic or similar. But then while rolling out after landing TWR gave the instruction to exit at that end and contact ground, to which I just said "9MP." Bingo, you got me there. The majority of what you are referring to I think is me being a little to comfortable with my home field and controllers, and vice versa. Again, thanks for pointing this out. I'm actually going to work on this. Even though I can explain most of this away, I think your advice is sound. BTW, I watched your video where you landed at Las Vegas. Very nice. Must be nice to be flying such a sweet plane with air conditioning. I envy you.

Nice video's and good narration. Really liked the video on the Mooney comparison. I have my private from a long time ago and have been thinking of getting back into flying. I was thinking of getting a Mooney someday but the Bonanza also seems like a nice alternative. Keep the video's coming.

I like your videos, they're fun to watch. But if I may say: instead of responding to almost everything with just "Niner Mike Pop" you should read back what the controller says to you.

Sometimes the controllers appreciate the quick responses like that... Norcal is very busy airspace and if they give you a big long clearance, they don't want the radios jammed up with the whole read back. They kind of just trust the fact that you write it down/remember it well and appreciate the quick response of "niner mike pop." If they really wanted the full read back, they would ask for it.
