SPOILERS FOR FF7 AHEAD The reason why Sephiroth basically follows Cloud everywhere he goes is actually something canon within the FF7 timeline. It's called the Reunion Theory. The Reunion Theory is a theory made by Professor Hojo positing that when Jenova cells, once seperated, will seek to reunite and return to the main body, influencing the minds of the creatures the cells are implanted in to do so. Professor Hojo put this theory to the test in the aftermath of the Nibelheim incident, injecting Cloud Strife and Zack Fair with Sephiroth's cells. Sephiroth was the son of Lucrecia Crescent, who agreed to have the embryo injected with Jenova cells. This succeeded and Sephiroth was born from this experiment. Since Cloud was injected with Sephiroth's cells and therefore has Jenova's cells within him, Cloud and Sephiroth are part of the Reunion Theory and consequently "reunite" in different games.

He has a sex drive, as disgusting as it is to think about that. Also, Lucrecia confirms its his child in Dirge of Cerberus. She never was with Vincent, though I'd much rather that have been the case. I suppose the one silver lining (lol) is that Sephiroth looks like his moms (plural) and nothing like Hojo.
