I think Cloud said it best in that UI Goku is a victim of being released during the height of COVID, so the most Bamco had to go off of was online results and usage. I don't know how good UI would've been offline during his peak, but I don't know if he'd be as busted as the current Fusion meta.

He wouldn't be top 10 tho. All of his invincible options were unsafe. His normals were still trash. Prepatch 2H was good along with autocombo. Anyone who got hit with 5M, 2M, and 5H made a mistake to get hit that way. 22S always needed resources to convert. It was a new character. Look at the old highlights, people using flips and shit. No one does that or walks through the ki blasts anymore.

To be fair if you buff UI goku level 1 counter so that it cant be punished you would have to buff coolers counter level 3 to do the same since his super counter costs more meter and its essentially the same move

Legit when we were talking about nerfing UI I wanted two things, for more delay on his unique wake up tech on whiff because it was bullshit that it could RPS, and for his 2H to be unsafe on whiff. It was to counter the crackhead energy the game had developed where it became really hard especially in even 2fr to deal with people mashing his options without building a team around countering him. Bandai decided to take every nerf conceived by the community at once and apply them all to UI. I hated the character but I was pissed for all of his players. He didn’t deserve what he lost.

A number of things that puzzle me as a UI main 1. EX j.236 doesn't feel rewarding. 2. Most of his high dmg combos require YOU to be in the corner. 3. Nearly 60% of his utility is irrelevant in neutral or situational. 4. Anything passed a safe 5M is a snowball into odd blockstring/pressure and self push back. 5. 6S makes no sense.

There's actually a new corner route where if you land 5h you can delay 2s and then do 6s and it'll put them back in the corner. I found it in training mode and I have a clip on my channel.

Make his 2m 11f and buff the range on it Buff the range on his 2l Make it so you can’t dp or anti air the second part of his 5l anymore Make his 5m 9f and buff the recovery on it by 15f Lower the whiff recovery on his 2h by 17f Make his light flip 24f Make his medium flip 27f Make his command grab 25f Buff the startup speed on his beams by 6f Give his 5s strong projectile properties Buff the hitstun on his 2s by 5f Revert the changes made to his 6s Make his 6h plus 1 Make his 236L, 236M and 236H plus 1 Make his air 236L, 236M and 236H -5 on block Give his air 236H a groundbounce so he can convert off of it meterlessly Make it so you can’t 2h or vanish his level 1 counter anymore (you can still level 3 it) Make his 22s a true dp again Revert the nerfs to his A assist so it has true dp properties again Buff the blockstun on his A assist to 29f Buff the startup speed on his B assist to 32f and make the flip part of it immune to all ki blasts/beams Lower the recovery on his level 1 by 10f

I'm surprised you never mentioned this, UI Goku gets practically 0 oki off his Lv3. The best he gets is a meaty. I've tried multiple kinds of oki but no matter what kinda safejump you try, you're never able to counterhit 2H. It's almost as bad as Majin 21's Lv3 oki.

I personally feel like the 22S change was a give and take, because it being an anti-air also meant it was a medium starter now. It does hurt the assist a lot tho And not being able to call an assist is also a problem, they must have forgotten that

Before I bought him I was eyeing that “backwards flip” change and wondering if it could be really broken, but then I actually got the character and learned how he worked and how clunky he was. Flips have no options for mobility use, every button is slow, his reward is bad, his assists are below average, and his defensive options aren’t even that good for a defensive character anymore. Why play UI when you can play cell, Aohan, Hit, or 18?

Of course! I am too, as this transformation was one of my favorite parts of the show. But it does do good to address the fact that he's not as good as the rest of the cast. Doesn't mean he can't still be fun to play. I've learned that he does have some good matchups as well. I use him to counter pick my friend who mains baby. With 6H, he can't really be zoned, even if it does only lead to a mix.

Ui Goku should feel like playing Hit on crack. Let me double down on special moves. Bus driver > bus driver (jails and can’t 2H) Bus driver > Crossup beam Bus Driver > 214M Also, make 6H plus AND if we 6H a vanish guard cancel (or anything at all) let us hold the down input so we can be on the floor already, rather than in the air. Give the 2H back to him. Give the 236L gimmick back Just revert the 6S changes Give us something to do if 5S clashes with a ki blast. Make his counter super make sense. Make 22S a DP again. I want him to be able to special cancel the way Ssj Vegeta is doing it. And avoid things in neutral the way hit is doing that. I will collect the dragonballs to make this list come true.

The only thing you got wrong was UI goku’s level was actually not punishable on block you kinda just had to wait out the block stun and then force him to block with a ki blast or beam or super dash, literally safe on block side switch super.
