When you pull the hair up into a top knot, be sure the dog can blink. Sometimes the hair from the eyelids is pulled into the top knot.

I did buy this product because of how well your video is :) I did want to tell you though I no longer use it as I have figured out the tear stain problem. Our maltepoo had bad red stains on his eyes, mouth and paws where he licked. I changed his water to bottled ( I get a three gallon jug of it and it lasts about two months then I just go and have them refill it). It is drinking water, but from a place like "Sparklets". ANYWAY, I also changed his food to Fromm and it has no color added. In a month or so his stains went away, I never have to use angel eyes either. I do believe the water change made the biggest difference. Love your video thank you

maxmansmom Yes that's exactly what we did with Cici as well! Except we just feed her Taste of the Wild grain-free, we found foods with grains makes her get produce stains so she might be allergic to grain. The whitening gel was just perfect to whiten the already stained hair, and haven't had to use it since :). So glad your baby is all better now! xoxo

Hi, Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. Yes my little Chihuahua is short haired, but in the mean time I have purchased this product and used with extreme caution, she has had it on 3 times, but with no effect whatsoever, I used a tiny baby toothbrush so it didn't really go into the skin too much. She has had no skin reaction to the product, today I am going to bath her so I want to wash out any product that is there will be removed, then try again, I am going to persevere and hope I get a result long term. It is quite funny when I get the tiny tooth brush out my other chihuahua goes mad and wants it too, so we have to pretend we are putting her some on, she just sits there with such a contented look on her face, of course she has to be done first before we put the brush in the product. I will give you an update

helpful video! i saw your review on amazon for this product and ended up purchasing it! I have a white pomeranian and ive been trying everything to remove the tear staining but idk what is causing it. I have tried using Angel Eyes, Eye Envy, changing stainless steel bowls, adding ACV into the water, grain free foods, giving probiotic supplements etc etc nothing is fixing the cause of the tear stains. Now Im just trying to remove the staining and then just keep his eyes clean to keep the staining at bay. I have used different tear stain rinses and blue shampoo/purple shampoo/whiting shampoo to lift the color but it only lifts a tiny bit then stops. I have used this product for the past few days now and i see it actually making a difference. its only been around 5 days and his tear stains have lifted considerably, i use this gel along with the whitening shampoo from the same brand. I also use a tear stain rinse that has boric acid in it, and i do find that, that also helps with decreasing the production of his tears.

Apple cider vinegar for tear stains work like magic. I've been using it on my white poodle since she was a pup. The tear stains stopped straight away the next day! Just pour a lil bit and mix it into their water. My dogs use bottle. But be careful of overusing because no matter what, vinegar are acidic. So measure well and mix with water.
@deannabrochin80105 жыл бұрын
How much should you mix together?
@aphyngodiva25515 жыл бұрын
@@deannabrochin8010 If you're using a small bottle of apple cider vinegar, just fill the cap. It's about 1 teaspoon. For some dogs this still tastes too strong, if it's a small water bowl this may also be too strong, in this case just watch them when they drink the water, if it is too strong they'll only do one or two licks and stop, decrease to 1/2 tsp, 1/4, 1/8, whatever the dog will accept.

I too have a Maltese. She is just a puppy still but I give her only bottled purified water to drink and that seems to help with reducing the tear stains quite a bit. It doesn't have the minerals in it to cause the rust colored stains. Give it a try it might surprise you how much it eliminates the tear stains. I would be afraid to use chemicals so close to her eyes.

@Cloud9maltese10 жыл бұрын
There's a few options available to anyone wanted to use this product: 1.What I personally recommend is that the cause of the dog's staining should be solved first. For example, changing the water, changing the food, washing face once a day to see if that prevents new staining, etc. And once no more new stains are producing, then the hair is left with the old stains that won't go away until all the hair grows out and you can cut it, so my solution to that would be to use this product to whiten the old stains and that way you don't have to wait until the hair grows out all the way to cut it. And if you got rid of the tear staining problem before using the product, after whitening it there should be no need to continue using it since there will not be any new stains :). For example, with my dog I changed her food to grain-free, water bowl to stainless steel, and wipe her face daily; then, I use this product to remove the old stains, and I have not had to use it again since I made this video. option 2. If the tear staining is genetic and there's really no way to stop them from re-producing, then it is OK to use this product again when the hair once again gets stained. I have no personal experience with the long-term use of this product because I only had to do one full session on my dog (about 6 treatment days), but I do know of others that have used it for many years on all of their dogs with no negative side effects. After you whiten the stains with the first full session, after that it depends how fast the stains come back. Use it only after there are already stains, not to prevent. The stains on the hair product from there being too much iron in the tears. When your dog produces tears and gets the hair wet, it reacts with the oxygen and the hairs within a couple of hours and turns red. That is why to keep the tears from staining the hair, you need to clean your dog's face daily, or even more than once a day if you can. The less time you leave the tears on the hair, the less it will stain :). Think of it as spilling wine on carpet, the faster you clean it the less time it will have to settle in to the carpet and stain it more. I will also be uploading a video that explains tear stains in detail, and offer a few solutions that could help, so stay tuned! :) XOXO

+Cloud9maltese Thank you! I've been using this product but am still trying to combat the source of the tear staining. My doggy is on Orijen but still tear stains (maybe it's the chicken, not sure)... But she's also still a puppy at 8 months old, however I know some dogs don't stain at this age or even at birth through teething but I'm hoping it's not genetic. I wanted to ask what was the root cause to curing your pup? I know every dog is different but I'd like to know what you did because it does help narrow down the possibilities. Sometimes I feel I'm shooting in the dark.

They can be caused by water because unfiltered water as a higher concentration of iron molecules, so it is recommended you give bottled or filtered water :). Hi, I am desperate to get something that WORKS, but I have been reading about this on the net and it says not to use near the eyes, and obviously that is where I want it for, my little white Chihuahua has terrible stains, the vet says she is healthy, iv tried the water, no good, and other products, they don't work. You have made this video, so you must know what you are doing, so I just need a little reassurance this is safe, I'm sorry I'm not insulting you in any way, I'm looking to you for guidance . Thankyou for your time.

Does your white Chihuahua have long hair? (don't know if it's mixed). If she has really short hair on the face and you think the product would be directly touching her skin, I would not personally recommend it but you can show the product ingredients to your vet and ask him that if you'd like. Or, you could first do a test by applying a tiny amount on a part on the body similar to that area, and see how it reacts after a day (ie. if it turns red or gets itchy). When it says keep away from eyes, it's the direct area such as where the tear duct is, on eyelids, or too close to the under-lids. For instance on my dogs, I apply it very specifically to the hairs, not the skin or any area that could get the product in her tear duct or eyes. I don't have personal experience using it on short haired dogs, so I would be extremely cautious... A more safer method would be to just wash her face daily with Spa Lavish blueberry face wash. That will whiten the stains over a long period of time, so it is something that works slowly and is more gentle. You should also try cleaning around the eyes with a product like Collyrium for fresh eyes by Bausch and Lomb (you can find it in the human eye care section of any drugstore), that will also gently lift away tear stains over a long period of continuous use along with the Spa Lavish face wash. Feel free to head over to our Facebook page facebook.com/cloud9maltese if you have more questions because there I can also share pictures and more detailed instructions :)

I had a martese. He had the same stains. Someone told me it is the chlorine in the water we give them. They said anywhere they lick will stain unless I changed his water. They said that's why they have it around eyes too. I started giving him water without chlorine and the stains went away completely within a month. Even the stains around his eyes. Good luck.

Switching my dog to a high quality food, eliminated the problem almost completely- amazing difference from when I got her till now.

what food did you feed them and what do you feed them now?
@bjl.76548 жыл бұрын
she was on a Chicken Soup for the Soul at that time. Turns out she had a super bad bladder infection & the vet found crystals in her urine as well, so she has been on Royal Canin Urinary health small dog food ever since.

Hi does this also apply to big dogs's stained elbows?
@Cloud9maltese9 жыл бұрын
mikki syiaco If it is on long hair yes. If it is directly on the skin or short fur, I do not recommend.
@mikkisyiaco57689 жыл бұрын
Husky?
@Cloud9maltese9 жыл бұрын
I would say no, since some huskiest don't have much hair in the elbow area because of how much it is in contact with the ground when laying down.. but I don't know much about that breed, sorry I can't be of much help with that :\.

What about around the mouth because my dog has that problem
@Cloud9maltese7 жыл бұрын
I would not recommend to use this on any area that the dog can reach with his/her tongue because it is not safe to ingest. You would have to find out what the reason for stains around the mouth are, is it because the hair is too long? because its eating wet food? etc. And then from that try to prevent it. A safe "whitening" method for that area is the Spa Lavish facial scrub, but you would need to use it several times to see results.

I also showed the product to my vet first to check if it's safe and he said it's made for animals therefore very safe to use. I have always used bottled water and I've also changed her food to James Wellbeloved, a brand here in the UK that is hypoallergenic food and all natural (she was on the expensive Royal Canin puppy food before and staining a lot!!) Let's hope Shazam Whitening Gel continues to work together with the change of food! 😊

Can I just use the shampoo that the vet gave me to wash around my puppy's eyes?? I don't have that product you have
@Cloud9maltese10 жыл бұрын
Sure you can use any shampoo, just be super careful if it is not tear-free. The reason why I use this one for her face is because it helps keep the hair on her face white.

Hello there, I love your video! Do you think I can use this product on my bichon frise puppy? He's only 9 weeks old but he has the eye staining starts to build up. I tried to clean it with cotton pad soaked with water everyday but the staining still there, i even trim the hair, but the new build up just stain the fur again. Also is it alright to use it daily without rinsing it? Thank you xxx
@Cloud9maltese9 жыл бұрын
Alya Abdul Manab Hi! Thank you~ For 9 weeks old it is actually normal that he has stains, the cause is because he is teething. It's like human babies, teething makes them cry (puppy produce tears), and the iron in the dog tears cause the hair to stain. Just keep cleaning his face every day or every 2 days so keep it clean, and wait until he is one year old (that's when they usually stop teething) to see if the staining stops. After 1 year old you can use this product to whiten the hair that was stained when he was a puppy :) Hope this helps!

I would rather use Renu from Bausch and Lomb because it removes the proteins from skin and hairs and it's safe for my eyes and my puppy's eyes too. I saturate the area around my puppy's eyes everyday for a week and the stains never come back.
@Cloud9maltese10 жыл бұрын
I use the one called "Collyrium for fresh eyes by bausch and lomb" :) they can be used to whiten existing tear stains if used daily, and consecutively for a long while also. I found out about this other product (All Systems#1) from other Maltese owner and just thought it would be a good idea to make a video on it and review it, and also show others how to use it. It is a safe product, and absolutely much safer than using Angel Eyes medication. It's been months since I did the treatment with Systems#1 and dog is super healthy, no skin problems or any allergies & I tested it on my skin too ;) Also I only assumed this product to be a one-time thing, like just to whiten existing stains if the tearing is already under control, so once the hair is whitened there's no need to use any longer. Our bottle is still completely full! lol. Thanks for watching and for your input :)
@kryptoknight.10 жыл бұрын
Cloud9maltese Do not use Collyrium for fresh eyes because it is only an eye wash it does not remove proteins. It will not work at all. Use RENU. It works for us and it is safe. I use Renu for my contact lenses for over 20 years.
@Cloud9maltese10 жыл бұрын
Have you spoken to your veterinarian about it? The molecule that causes tear stains is called Porphyrin and it is a molecule that contains iron. Boric acid oxidizes the iron in the porphyrins, meaning it will prevent the porphyrin from staining the hair. Collyrium is boric acid, and also this solution is safe to apply directly on the eyes as an eye wash. I'm not sure if renu contains boric acid, but if you want something mild that counteracts the porphyrin molecules you will need collyrium/boric acid and most eye washes have it. These tear stains are not to be confused with brown staining though, because that is usually due to a yeast infection and a totally different treatment is needed for that. It's great if renu is working for your little one, just please be extra careful and feel free to try Collyrium eye wash, it is safer to use it close to eye and inside eye area. BioTrue is also a good one because it is formulated to preserve the lactoferrin (an important protein) that is actually present in tears and it almost serves as an antibiotic because it helps combat against micro organisms! :) xoxo

The whitening gel in this video contains human grade ingredients, it is meant for the face, not harmful and does not contain bleaching agents. It also does not damage the hair at all, that's how gentle it is. The lady that recommended this shows Maltese has has used it for years, there's nothing wrong with using it, but to each their own. Different products will work for different dogs. It's been about 5 months for us and I have not had to use it again, because like I said, her staining is under control, those stains were just old ones from when she used to get tear staining, this product was just meant to whiten those old stains and that's it, it's not a product you continue to use on a daily basis or anything like that. Kind of like human teeth whiteners, after a good whitening you just keep it up with brushing :) so after whitening her hair I just keep the stains away with collyrium and a good healthy diet

I hate when Maltese have their hair up on head. You know it makes their little head sore. I trim my Maltese hair and keep it out of his eyes. It looks real cute, fashionable, and free from irritating his eyes. Just pull the hair up as if going to put in a knot/pony tail, then cut it straight across. As far as using an unknown product such as in this video, I would want to know EXACTLY the ingredients. I clean my dog's face every day with a flea comb and moisture wipes.

It does not change the color of the natural hair, it just removes the stains, but it should only be used where your dog can not lick itself.
