Cody Zain always practicing together definitely takes away from it, as much as everyone flamed hungrybox for never practicing with others top players it sure did make the top8s hype adding another element to the story and interest
@rayhoward9 ай бұрын
the cody zain rivalry definitely is a watered down rivalry, it's like imagining Mang0 and Armada playing on stream every day or HBox and Moky playing everyday, there's definitely a difference of stream play vs tournament play but still if you watch them for a week and it's 70-30 one way, it takes away from the allure of seeing them in grands together

I dont think either of them give a fuck about content, they are just trying to improve.
@tetros52659 ай бұрын
@pinecrustjuise Yeah, that's why they're the best. Frankly, if you don't personally enjoy watching stream games, don't. I don't think it's their job to preserve the mystery of the narrative on a whole. That being said, friendlies and tourney ARE different, and beyond that there's a lot of factors that change things.

Personal opinion: I feel melee has been a little boring last year because of the lack of very strong personalities in players. I feel like no one is grabbing my attention like the old players have. Rivalries feel less like a rivalry. It’s almost a little hard to put into words since I’ve been dipping in and out of melee. It doesn’t feel like much has changed. Just technical discourse here and there since Asmas breakthrough
@TheVirginMeri8 ай бұрын
yeah, not insulting anyone for its just nerd being friends about the game they all love. only personality is moky or cody crying about something

I relate with this heavily. For the longest time I have always been able to watch melee and ultimate basically interchangably but I find myself gravitating more towards ultimate. Simply put, it just feels like the same shit. The fact it went from 6 unique major winners over 17 events with Fox, Marth, Shiek, Puff, Falco, and YOSHI to 4 unique major winners over 11 events with Fox, Marth, and Shiek only makes it worse.

2024 needs to be the year of no johns. I dont care if you both played bad, your hands are cold, your controller is broken, you got no sleep, WHATEVER. I have to avoid twitter because everytime i read melee twitter during a tourney it pisses me off

My first reaction after seeing someone I like or someone who was talking big game lose is going to twitter to see the reaction lmfao. Honestly smash needs to get off twitter
@ChristianTheChicken9 ай бұрын
I think Twitter in general is just really bad. I have tried only following people I really want to follow, who are positive and stuff, but the site keeps pushing all this unnecessary drama on me no matter how many accounts I block or mute. The site just really wants me to be angry or depressed, and I just refuse to stay on it for that.
@rannynihilius84818 ай бұрын
@@ChristianTheChickenevery second someone must QRT some random tweet and make fun of or start beef with someone through that. The fact that you can like only type 2 sentences to respond to anything makes this whole site a platform with a communication issue that's easily plagued by the internet's misinformation cancer. Not even the reddits are this braindead and toxic in how people talk to each other and i still don't get why we don't try finding a solution. It's always sensationalism opinions to get impressions, players tweeting johns or emo stuff after losing, community members actively going after big players for saying or doing thing xyz, this whole rightwing conspiracy bubble that surfaced online lately who accept anything from deterrents to sex pests in their own ranks and it just goes on and on. Hope the issue gets addressed more by players because Twitter is just holding the growth of the scene on a short leash since this whole social media dopamine loop is just damaging our reputation.

Cody's good but he's the least interesting top melee player ever imo. He seems nice but the guy's just a charisma vacuum, bans people from his twitch who say he looks like reviewbrah. Zains cool but he's like a straight man in a comedic duo. It'd be a sick rivalry with someone who was a little more wacky. It is over saturated too.

I wanna see Lucky bring it back this year. His fox is legit fun to watch. As a Mango die hard fan, who'll always hold it down, I just wanna see some sick shit. For the current commentary/shit talk from Cody, and Jmook. It's definitely objectively biased to bitch about fans not being hype on 2023. It was a down year. They compared "O.G." player story lines to what happened in 2023, and why fans weren't hyped. 2022 was a wayyyyyy better year when compared to last year. Mango and Lucky hit the nail on the head, watching the 2 top players of 2023 play against each other on stream, and in tournament as much as they did FOR SURE killed the essence of the competitive scene. Anyways, hyped as fuck for Genesis that'll be taking place during my 34th Bday. Heres to a sick year of Melee.

He only said that because everyone including practicalTAS kept shitting on the idea, how is two dudes duking it out in a fighting game a dumb way to decide number 1?
@TheVirginMeri9 ай бұрын
@@jchud13 Because it is dumb, everyone pretty much knew that. There's more to being the better competitor than being the better player on a given day. But people also knew the benefits of the event. But someone in the match probably shouldn't acknowledge how dumb it is right before the match😅

Cody/Zain’s lukewarm rivalry isn’t the issue-Ultimate rivalries (acola, Miya, Sparg0, Sonix) are boring, too, and none of those guys practice together. #1 most interesting thing in Smash is UNDERDOG STORIES. That’s why Axe was the real star of 2019, and aMSa and Jmook were the stars of 2022. If aMSa won more this year, or Slug won a major, or Mang0 got Top 8 with solo Doc, we’d be a lot more excited
