Mitch Parkinson and Jackson Coffey got themselves into some solid Fijian barrels on this mission. The power of this wave is highlighted by the broken leg suffered by an American charger by the name of Andrew Jacobson.

How did you break your neck? You were riding some powerful tropical waves and hit the reef or sand bar???

Getting hurt on a wipe out is so random. You see guys have insane wipeouts and nothing happens then once in a while someone gets really hurt. I've had my worst wipeouts on smaller days. In Hawaii I got pitched over the falls on 12 foot faces straight into the reef 3 times in a row and nothing happened. It was totally thrilling, then one time on a big day I took a smaller wave, like an 8 foot face and got my head chopped off by the lip and got body slammed so hard it knocked the wind out of me and it was the most terrifying feeling because I couldn't catch my breath.

@@apurvajain2435 Luckily there were no sets coming in so I hung onto my board and caught my breath then paddled in.

Looks like a dislocated knee... I think a break may be better.

Destroyed his knee, as bad as it can get -- knee dislocation, patellar fracture, torn ACL, PCL, LCL, MCL.

boat trip across to the mainland or seaplane, which ever way hope they had plenty of drugs on the island. or maybe with the influx they may have some medical facility on the island...80's i was last there so it was at your own risk back then.

Man-scale... 6-8' - top to bottom, in the tube... Maybe twice that, as a cresting peak. 6-8' of deepwater SWELL.
