I'm right there with you! Haven't thought about macrame since the 70s and it's fun to see it coming back. And WOW! People are creative!! I only remember a couple BASIC knots but what some people are making and doing that I've seen lately, this macrame really is artwork! I am not necessarily a cat person but from the looks of this cat at the end, it appears to be quite happy and content! 🤗🐱🤗🐱🤗

👏 An excellent SAFE option for a hanging cat bed. I’ve seen so many designs on KZbin that I wish were deleted so people couldn’t copy. Cats can get stuck and hang to death. Apologies for being morbid but a safe design is one where they can’t stick their heads through the ropes.

I completed my Cat Swing Bed yesterday. For anyone reading the comments like I was, wondering about the lengths, here are the measurements I used. 4 cords at 25', 4 cords at 8.5', 1 cord at 10', 1 cord at 5' , 24 cords at 8.5', final cord at 5'. If you use these measurements you allow yourself a little more slack and room for error. 5/5 video. easy to follow, straight to the point. the cats love it.

@loisdellar5122 from the top of the hook to the bottom of the bed (not including the strings hanging at the bottom) it's is 36" or 3 feet. With the strings it is around 4.5 ft

First time using macrame and it came out awesome. I got a lot of compliments and my cat loves it. Although, I think I got the measurements wrong because my strings were a lot shorted, but it was an easy fix. I extended the strings by adding the additional strings to the middle stings, while doing the single knots. It didn't change the pattern or appearance. I had a lot of fun, thank you!!

I started doing this a week ago right from ordering the materials, I am brand new to macrame! I have completed this today!!! I struggled with measurements and the cord I got was not at all thick like yours so I was not able to get the designer fringes like you have done and had to do a LOT MORE KNOTS but the HAMMOCK is here! I decided I will not settle for a makeswift hammock for my cat and I AM SO GLAD I CAME ACROSS YOUR VIDEO! I cannot explain with words how happy I feel, thank you for this very helpful tutorial! You've probably moved on in the project since this was months ago, but based on some other comments from the creator and how mine turned out, they should be about 15-17 inches. All you have to do with those cords after the spiral half knots is a lark's head knot on each to attach the bottom hoop, then about 5 half knots again to finish them off. So you don't need too much extra length after the spiral.

Ich habe meine Katzenschaukel fertig, wirklich toll geworden. Was ich aber sagen muss ist, dass die Angabe der Schnüre nicht stimmen kann. Ich habe 8 Meter und 3 Meter genommen und bin gerade so hingekommen. Meine Empfehlung wäre, mindestens 8,5 Meter und 3,5 Meter zu nehmen. Gerne auch mehr, wenn die Schaukel länger sein soll. Abschneiden kann man immer. Ansonsten tolle Anleitung und ich kann nur empfehlen, es auszuprobieren 😊

I love this. 😃 I might 😢make the bits on the bottom closer together for safety reasons I’m sure everyone knows if that pillows falls off or shifts any kitty could falls out. Or worse, it could get tangled and trapped. Or a leg could get stuck. I’m sure everyone is being safe. I love this idea Super cute .
