A long anticipated bucket list trip was checked off 10/20/19 with a day hike to Clouds Rest in Yosemite National Park. For an easier effort than starting at the valley floor, about 15 miles round trip, we decided to embark from Tenaya Lake at the crack of dawn. The first few miles gave way to a gorgeous entrance to the Sierra forest landscape. We hit a quick and tough set of switchbacks until some rolling ups and downs within the forest built up our anticipation the rest of the way. Suddenly, our views opened up to valleys on either side and impressive 360 degree mountain views at the start of the clouds rest footpath. The climb can only be compared to the stairway to heaven; a 5-10 foot rock path in front, blue skies above and ahead with mountain behind us. The short climb up, not for the faint of heart, led us to unparalleled views of half dome about 1000ft below us and the entire Yosemite valley floor. We can only hope to do this incredible place justice in words and images, but inevitably pales in comparison to what your senses will provide you if you actually are there.

been doing this once or twice a year for the last decade or so in all seasons and weather - such great hike and one of the best views on the planet at the top with a 360 degrees of the Range of Light
