I watched a lot of BR videos over the past 50 years or so, but I don't think I have ever seen him play with that kind of intensity and speed for that long. That was insanity what he did. And I don't think he was goofing around at the end...he was tired. I would be dead.

This might be the best band performance that I've heard, I conclude he was very happy with the band and playing perfectly because of that.

I was at this concert ...i was nearly 13 and this was my 12th time seeing him live , i was sat to his right so could see below and above the ride cymbal and between the piano . When i met him afterwards he said to me " hey kid havent you got anything better to do than come and see me " ? when i said no.... he laughed and ruffled my hair and said " you need to get out more " . When all the autograph hunters had gone i was taken back stage ..,.he had arranged it " and he asked me how i was , how school was and when was the next time i was going to get to see him ? ....my reply was several days later .....his reply was good i will make sure i take that night off . As i left he said " good to see you kid " .

man his left hand is just relentless on this, I wold never think of putting all those grace notes in like that, my hand would be messed up after a few minutes. Just amazing he has translated the impossible dancing jazz left hand to a dancing rock hand. NO ONe else on the planet would play rock like that.

I've always been trying to find another version of "Time Being." His solo on the Rich In London album was such a departure from his usual (all great) and I love it. Compositional mastery. Buddy, amazing! Thank you so much for this.

+Steve Taylor Public service, yes, thats a good way to put it. It makes me very happy that so many are appreciating these BR vids - the least I can do to show my gratitude to this incredible man who brought so much musical enjoyment and enrichment to my life, starting when I was just a kid. I sincerely hope that young drummers today will take the time not only to watch these videos, but to carefully LISTEN to the audio on these vids, and maybe be inspired like I was, and learn something about making music on the drums and playing musical drum solos.

WOW! I cannot thank you enough for posting this! "Time Being" is my favorite number performed by this band, and it's just fantastic to see it in color, with such great audio. I agree with another commenter, you have done a great public service. I saw this band on June 5, 1972 at Lenny's-on-the-Turnpike in Danvers, Massachusetts, and was lucky enough to speak briefly with Buddy, obtain his autograph, and, most importantly, have my mind completely blown by such amazing players. I never cared for saxophones until that night. Pat LaBarbera fixed that. I could go on, but you get the point. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Pleasure to see buddy play long after he left us, nostalgic to hearken back to a time when my dad would take my brothers and I to the Great American Music Hall in SF to see Buddy, inspiring to keep me trying to improve my playing, and the frustration knowing I will never be anywhere as good as Buddy. Cheers to "The World's Greatest Drummer"!

LOVE this post.. Anybody got a notch filter to take out the annoying 60 cycle hum, and re upload this? Part 1 does not have this hum, but its all the way thru part two unfortunately! This is the exact lineup and set list I saw and heard over many nights at Ronnie Scott's Club in London way back then, including "Time Being" which is an amazing piece of music!
