I cant vacuum to waste with my current pump, just have an intex battery operated vacuum....what do i do with the stuff on the bottom after i floc if i cant waste the water?
@LifeLessOrdinary Жыл бұрын
You are very limited if you don’t have a filter with the waste option. Possibly use a long hose and create a siphon.
@DigitalNetworkInsights Жыл бұрын
@@anthonyfortier3924ey there I had replaced my Hayward pump because it stopped working but actually I realized a year later because I didn’t throw it away, that the old pump was still working. So as this guy did in the video I had extra water in the pool, then I had my hoses hooked up to the old pump, had the pump sucking the water out of the pool as I vacuumed and just shot the water out the pump toward a downhill slope into a drain. It worked. I just created my own pool pump that sat outside the pool and I didn’t use the pool pump connected to the entire pool system or filtration system. If you have the hoses and you have the vacuum piece, and you have an additional pump you can do the same thing. My pool is in-ground, huge 32,000 gallon, in the backyard of a home that was built in 1950, and then an addition to the home was added in the 1970’s. I’m not sure how old the pool is itself, but manage it the best I can. This year 2023 I’m repainting it. Always lots to do…

I have spent a few hundred $'s in one weeks time, and 5 visits to the pool store. Never once did they tell me about floc. I shocked the heck out of the pool twice, in 2 days, fixed the PH (It was off just a tad) added calcium, and THEN they told me after 3 years of minimum use, the sand filter needed to have the sand replaced. We did that too. still the water was milky white. This video says it all. I'll try it tomorrow and see what happens on sunday morning. I'll keep you posted.

GREAT VIDEO!!!!!! I had a large splash super pool for 15 years zero problems keeping it cleaned, it had a large cartridge filter with a 1.25hp pump. I took it down a few years ago and this year got a Costco Bestway 12'x22' with the sand filter. Having pool knowledge I started this up and treated it like normal, and like you I could not clear up the cloudiness. I went to 2 different local pool shops and they were ZERO help and hardly friendly. You would think being in the pool business for years they could offer some help, I personally have always tried to do local business, yes I know the prices are way more than online, but I have always felt being able to pick their brains for years of knowledge was with the extra costs, sadly they were off-putting. I installed the Hayward skimmer and did the floc treatment at the same time. The floc worked as you showed, a huge thanks!!!!!! The Hayward skimmer is also way better, my pool is circulating water much better, and the vacuum attachment is better. Huge thanks again 👍🏻

When I started using granulated floc years ago, another pool owner advised me to remove the vacuum head, and just to tape the hose on slightly past the sharp edge of the pole. I've never used the brush head since, even during the course of regular vacuuming. For some reason it ups the suction power, and this method picks up a much wider area of the floc debris, or anything else....really quickly so less patience and time is required.

@@LifeLessOrdinary sand cleans at 50-60 microns where crushed glass cleans at under 12 microns. If you were running glass instead of sand. You probably wouldnt have had to use the floc. the glass would have cleared the pool the next day. Just like DE would have.
@lenonkitchens7727 Жыл бұрын
Three things: 1) Make sure your filter is on recirculate before putting floc in. If you don't have a multiport valve, then floc is generally a bad idea, and you probably don't need it anyway. 2) The recommended dosage of floc is usually for a moderately cloudy pool. For a very cloudy pool like yours was, you should double the dose at least. 3) If your pool is cloudy due to a PH problem, you should use PH Down or acid to fix the problem. Clarifiers aren't for fixing PH problems. They're coagulants, just like floc, they just take longer to work but don't require vacuuming. They might also lower PH some, depending on the brand I suppose, but just because you dumped clarifier in and didn't see a response overnight doesn't mean you don't have a PH problem. Also, clarifiers can take up to a week or so to clear a pool depending on how good your filter is. And again, the recommended dose is for moderately cloudy pools. Use more for a very cloudy pool.

I floc'd one night just to see and got the same results seen here. I vacuumed as much as I could but I felt like I was doing things wrong and needed to get back into the SLAM process, so I started chem treatment again. Well.... I wish I found you earlier. @@LifeLessOrdinary I used double the bottle recommended drop floc for a 10,000 gallon pool (mine is about 6000). Let it set and this morning I’m seeing the bottom very clearly as well as everything I need to vacuum up. For anyone reading, I am a new pool owner taking over one that came with a new house. Didn’t know what I was doing and managed to drop a lot of branches and dirt into the pool. Didn’t touch it until it was too late (very green). Spent a week or two doing SLAM but I feel the real progress came from cleaning as much debris as I could, even though i was doing it blind at first with so little visibility. Eventually it got very murky teal and doing the process in the video will help me gather the rest of the debris and solids so I can focus on chemistry.

The intex pool filters are usually not strong enough, a DE filter is best, see those chemicals your adding, less is more, I never ever put anything in my pool except for chlorine, PH up, on start-up & once weekly add Green Out. Always add a little extra chlorine to keep the algae out, I don’t have algae ever. ( my 90 year old uncle taught me this) First get your PH up to 7.0 , I throw in two bags “green out” or other algaecide, ( my pool is 24’ round 15,000 gal water) add two 3” chlorine long lasting tabs, and turn on my DE filter ( my experience get a DE filter, the one with NO cartridges, it has a million fingers inside, leave filter on overnight, do a backwash , add clean DE (2 cups) the pool is crystal clear !!!
@powerlocks3 жыл бұрын
the perflex filter you speak of is junk. after a few years, your pressure will spike constantly. the fingers you love get clogged and need to be soaked in Bear Strip in order to bring them back. I tell all my customers just to get a sand filter and put crushed glass in it. Sand cleans at 50-60 microns and needs to be replaced every 5-6 years, where crushed glass cleans below 12 microns and is a lifetime in the filter. DE cleans at under 11 microns and you have to refill every time you clean out.
@dakota37183 жыл бұрын
@@powerlocks Of course thats your opinion, but, to me, thats not true, I have my DE filter for over 12 years, never a problem and never changed the fingers, just keep it clean, The motor is 1.5 horsepower so, its pretty powerful, i did however, have to buy a new motor I think after 10yrs. And yes, I do refill with fresh DE (2cups) every time I backwash and clean out, i like doing that, i feel like everything is fresh and clean that way, but, i swear, Its the only filter that has ever worked for me, my water looks like there are 💎 diamonds sparkling on top…

I live in SC where its hot and humid and loads of rain at one time. My pool came with the built in filter return pump which worked great until it got super hot for weeks on end. Save yourself the headache and get a sand filter pump if you have long periods of high temps. The little paper filter pump does great but isn't the best for hot climates and you'll end up with an algae problem sooner or later. Plus you will find a sand filter pump will get you more power for the vac. Well worth a couple hundred more dollars. Make sure to shock weekly or twice a week. @LifeLessOrdinary2 жыл бұрын
Are you dealing with algae?
@chrispkreme7708 Жыл бұрын
That’s incorrect you can use floc but you have to take the filter out and use the vacuum adapter for your pool (may have to get separately) then the (out) hose on the filter housing that puts the water back into the pool needs to be disconnect which would create a waste disposal. Just find something to plug the hole in the pool where the water comes back in.

Clarifier still works if the ph level is stable. All clarifier does is helps small debris particles to bind together and make it large enough for the filter to pick up. It can take the clarifier multiple days to do its job sometimes though and you may need to repeat the process multiple times, but if your in no hurry to get into the pool clarifier is a lot easier.

Thanks for this video! First time having cloudy water. Probably because we left it uncovered and had to start with cleaning a green, swampy pool! Waiting for the lizard man to pop out of that mess! Our pool is 27 round and it’s very hard to reach but so far and clean from the deck and keep the brush on the floor to move slow. I’ve even used a ladder to try and reach the where there’s no pool deck and still having trouble. Would my robot work or you think it will stir up too much?

Flocs work great, but the reason for all the particles in the water is a circulation and filtration issue. You want the entire contents of the pool to be filtered at least once per day. So make sure your filter is always clean so that your system is moving enough water each day. Have a great swim season! - 20+ year inground pool industry experience.

The pool store guy is stumped. 27 ft round with a cartridge filter. Filter is on 24/7 and cleaned 3 times a day. Also drained half the pool twice to dilute the acid. Any suggestions?
@LifeLessOrdinary2 жыл бұрын
Wow I’m sorry it’s been such a hard fought pool season. First of all next season you have to replace the cartridge filter. Algae gets in those things and just breeds more algae. Sounds like you have too much of everything already in the water. If it were me depending on if you have a well or your on city water I would drain the pool and start over. But I realize not everyone has that option.
