I love how that quick montage of Flint's failed inventions leading to his first successful invention wasn't just that; almost every invention in that sequence had something to do with the setting or story later. The Flying Car ended up being a major plot point. The monkey translator turned Steve into a major character and even became a pivotal part of an emotional scene at the end. The walking television became a denizen of the town. The rat birds became a constant invasive species.

I think I have to disagree. Trust me, I love the book. It was a favorite of mine when I was little; I read it all the time. I was in high school when the movie came out and I was so thrilled to see it was being made into a film, I could hardly believe it, but I made sure to go see it in theaters (but not Up, that flew under my radar completely). One of my favorite parts of the book is the fact that they don’t know why it starts or stops, but I feel that wouldn’t have worked well in a 90 minute film. For all that the book is an amazing story with charming illustrations to show all the mysterious food weather, it needed more to make it a compelling film. The movie does an excellent job playing homage to the best scenes in the story (ice cream day, anyone?) while fleshing it out into a story that can be told over the larger time frame. For that reason, I love them both equally, because they are both masterpieces of their respective medium. I am glad to have found someone who loves the book so much! I was waiting for Seamus to mention the source material, and was bummed when he did not.

When I saw the trailer for Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, I thought it looked dumb. But when I watched it a year later with some friends, I was sad I didn't see it in theatres. It's genuinely funny and good storytelling. The subtleties in so many things they set up at the beginning showing up later is brilliant!

I enjoy _Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs_ due to its cast of characters, Animation, voice cast and moral of the story. I don't know what's AniMat's problem with this film and literally *EVERY* SPA film (except Emoji Movie, cause that film sucked) but Cloudy is still one of my favorite Sony Pictures Animation films next to Hotel Transylvania, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and recently the Mitchells vs. The Machines. Even it's worth noting that Phil Lord and Chris Miller played a part in this film as they not only directed and wrote the movie but also lead to them being household names in the animation and Live-Action industry (even though they got their start via Clone High), plus they also directed the 21 Jump Street films and _The Lego Movie_ and would eventually return to produce Spider-Verse and Mitchells vs. The Machines for SPA.

I am so glad you choose to make a video about this movie. I always loved the book when I was a little and was so pumped when I heard it was being made into a movie. I was in high school then and made sure to go see it in theaters (I saw way less movies in theaters then, but I saw this in theaters and not Up). I always enjoyed how they took a simple plot and dove so deep into the concept, and they did is so flawlessly. It truly is a masterpiece. So my local museum had this whole kids interactive room, mostly about weather and tides and stuff. And if you made your way all the way to the back, there was this floor to ceiling climbing maze with cloud-shaped bits at the top with bubble windows. And if you climbed all the way up to the top and settled into those ceiling-level clouds with a view of the room, there were stacks of books you could read. And in those stacks was the BEST PICTURE BOOK OF ALL TIME: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. To be honest, the reason I didn't watch this movie was because I was terrified of what they might have done to my beloved book, in order to pad it out to a feature length film.
