Beautiful box sets of some classic records!!! I’ve never seen that photo of the five Ramones! Weird to swap songs on Road to Ruin. The Alive box seems like it might be the best of the bunch as that record was never even released over here. Such a wonderful band!! Great video Andy!!!!

Thanks Jon, they did a great job and put a bit of thought into the bonus materials. Any idea why Alive was never released on vinyl in the US back then?
@bipbopboom3 жыл бұрын
@@metalmogul good question!!! The Ramones’ popularity wasn’t waning yet in 78, so the album release should’ve made sense in the US. The only thing I can think of is that Sire and Hollywood said to hold back because they had a major motion picture coming out with a soundtrack that they wanted to push. Also the next record End of the Century was gonna get a big budget and a huge name producer Phil Spector. I think Sire thought they were gonna be able to push the Ramones into the mainstream. It probably came down to marketing strategy! Have a great day!!!

These editions look amazing. To be honest Ive tried to keep them out of mind because I own the records already and if I see these deluxe editions ill want them ha! I was doing a good job at it too... but after seeing this it looks like im going to have to spend more cabbage picking some of these up. Thanks for emptying my bank account mate! My love of the Ramones started with Road To Ruin. A friend made me a copy on tape in the early 90s and I played that thing to death. I then picked up Brain Drain and hoovered up the rest of their discography as the years went by. One of the best bands there will ever be! Great video mate.

A fantastic reason to pick cabbages! Brain Drain was the first new release after I got into them and I got to see them on that tour. Great comment, thanks for watching.

I got the first 4 album box sets but never got to buying the It's Alive box. I didn't realize it came with two records and 4 cds. That's a crazy amount of live tracks. Thanks for showing these!

It's Alive was originally a double live album, I don't think it was originally released in the US though, can't imagine why.

Hi Andy!!! those are amazing deluxe editions great packaging cool booklet, vinyl and cds all in one set, that's nice and expensive i guess?? i only have the first two Ramones cd also 40th anniversary edition, but just vinyl replicas and no extras.... cheers and thanks for sharing

They can be expensive but I played the long game and waited for them to come down to a price I was comfortable with. I think I paid a fair price for each of them considering what you get in the box. Cheers Cristian, good to hear you do have some Ramones in your collection!

Definitely a Ramones fan as well. Likely got into them by seeing "Rock and Roll High School" for the first time on a VHS rental back in '86 or thereabouts, and then went and bought the first album. Still don't have It's Alive but I do have an RSD-released live album recorded in '79 (I think) with a very bright yellow jacket, as well as an RSD release of The Sundragon Sessions, which is also very cool. Thanks for showing these. Really dug them.

Great set🤘I like a couple of their hit songs but never delved further. I don’t really have one particular band where I collect absolutely everything from (singles, live and boots). Only a handful of favourites that I have all studio albums from is as far as I go.

Very impressive stuff you have there. I think I might stick them on today, not played them in a while. I'm sure you add more stuff, they are a band who do seem to get special treatment from time to time. I had this phase in 1990 in the summer, it was Ramones constantly due to a bloke at work who was big on them. I even got a T shirt lol. That was it back then. You had a t shirt = you were pretty serious lol.
@metalmogul3 жыл бұрын
I see your Ramones t-shirt and raise you a hoodie! They are a binge band for me, I'll go ages without playing them then I'm all in for a while. I wish the 80s material would get more attention from the labels, some great stuff there that is crying out for reissues.

I'm a sucker for anything Ramones, I just wish they'd put as much effort into the 80s era as they do the 70s when it comes to reissues. Thanks for watching mate.!

What a awesome collection ! The packaging is amazing , CDs & Vinyl included , a collectors dream ! So the 5 you showed , are those the only 40th anniversary editions available so far ? Very cool , you might turn me onto some Ramones yet !
@metalmogul3 жыл бұрын
Yes they are! But given the next album in the series was 1980 (End Of The Century) and nothing has come out since, I think that is the end of it. 70s Ramones is where the majority of the royalties are made, which is a shame as the 80s and 90s releases are really good in my eyes.
@JoshKeech3 жыл бұрын
I've never really listened to the Romones, never been into Punk honestly. But I still think they were a cool band, pretty badass and some of the 80's Thrash bands that I like were influenced by Punk bands like Romones. So I really respect that! Some of these anniversary packs look really cool, and look like a lot of effort was put in to make them really special. Nice one mate 😊🤘🤘 Also I thought the audio for the video sounded a little strange, not sure if anyone picked up on it. Don't think it was a big issue, just not how it normally sounds for your videos

After filming I realised the webcam mic was at 100% so the sound was messed up. I did what I could to relevel it prior to upload so it didn't make people's ears bleed but there was no way I was going to refilm it lol.

I used to eat lunch next to Johnny Ramone at a little pizza place off Mullholland Drive in L.A.. I never talked to him because of his reputation of being such a prick. Even though he'd retired, he still wore his hair the same way and wore the leather jacket. Love the band. I'm going to look into those boxes - if they're still around. They look mighty tasty.

I haven't bought any of those. I did consider especially Leave Home, but let them slide by. Now that you have official live release of the new years eve gig of -79 are you going to hold on to the bootleg you have? My earliest punk introduction were Sex Pistols The Jam and Ramones. Though it has to be said that i don't really remember did she play Road To Ruin for me or not. All i remember is the poster of the sleeve on her wall. The sleeve of Road To Ruin is one of my all time fave sleeve. I have the Anthology so i don't really need Ramonesmania, but i have thought about buying it because it's the only Ramones album to sell gold in the US. I have quite a few of their albums, but am missing several especially from the 80's. Do you really think everything they did was worth exploring even their covers album? (Acid Eaters?) Pasi
@metalmogul3 жыл бұрын
I have on OG of It's Alive, not a bootleg, and I'll be keeping hold of it. If you have the Anthology set it's probably not worth getting the Ramonesmania album. They are just one of those bands I collect everything of as I never tire of hearing any of their albums, Acid Eaters is a little different, I'm not a big fan of covers albums but then again this is the Ramones!
@6758pasi3 жыл бұрын
@@metalmogul I wasn't talking about It's Alive. I meant the one that is included on the Road To Ruin box, you have that one as a bootleg.
