I could listen to Cloughy for hours, both Clough and McLean were giants in the game and remind me of the good day's when football was football and not 22 players trying to outdo each other with haircuts and gel then falling over when any of the opposition come within three feet of them.

I think Jim would have taken the accolades of that man more seriously than any other in football. What a set of compliments he gives and it brings tears to me eyes every time I see this. Saw it live at the time in 1987. btw that guy is the only English guy to this day I would have gladly had as Scotland manager.

Cloughie spot on as usual regarding the need for "smaller " clubs to win something now & then to diversify things a bit. When you look at the past 20 years or so, apart from Leicester it's been pretty monotonous. In the 70's, Ipswich, QPR and west ham all came within a ball hair of the title, it's doubtful that will ever happen again , unfortunately 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Chelsea had a long wait also it's been a few clubs winning titles consistently Leicester was a one off event like Forest but Newcastle will be there now competing. But the old days off football is gone if you want to see that kinda thing it's the championship to watch still my fav league

These were genuinely great days. One of the country's top managers dropping into a no-frills studio to talk honestly and candidly about European competitions that mattered and were coveted, and which "unfashionable" clubs had the chance of winning - and we didn't have to pay to watch any of it. Great times - and how we took it all for granted back then.

Cloughy and Maclean were cut from the same cloth. Dundee Utd should also have been in the European Cup Final against Liverpool. Years later it was proved the referee was bribed by Roma in the semi final. The 80s were a great era for Scottish Football due to the fact that the Old Firm monopoly was smashed by Utd and Aberdeen. So boring now only 2 clubs have a chance of winning the Scottish Premiership.
