It really made me uncomfortable when Elisabeth was talking about the kids who were auditioning for the role of Joe, calling them "not sexy enough"... And throughout the whole movie, she just seemed selfish and fake. The way she talked to Joe after they had sex, using his vulnerability for her own gain really angered me. Anyway, this film was amazing and shocking, Charles Melton's performance was the most impressive

Seems to me that this role is what Natalie Portman would have become if she never would have met George Lucas or Mike Nichols....

i do not see liz in this way. and all this is leading the focus away from the real point we should talk about. female child abuse.

@@mallinaliiThats indeed a real Scandal for me. Its obviously not relevant when a boy becomes a victim. Even Hollywood focuses on the woman in such a case. Just imagine what whould habe been if the victim was a girl and the abuser a man?

i knew that her saying they weren’t sexy enough was supposed to be ridiculous like BRUH of course that kid isn’t sexy he is a literal child…but i do also get an aspect of it, because those were real pictures of charles melton as a 13 year old and while i wouldn’t say he’s sexy i do get how he looked older than what he was and he looks like a baby but still has a very attractive quality to him, if that makes sense? and the person they picked at the end does look like a physically mature 13/14/15 year old (i think he looks more like a 15 year old but that’s what i mean about him looking a bit older but still looking very young)

This was a fantastic analysis. It really solidified all of my thoughts/feelings surrounding May December in a succinct way

Elizabeth may be the protagonist, but she is not the main character. This is not her story. She, and the industry of film, are a representation of the consciousness that hunts Joe and Gracie. A consciousness that eventually made Joe finally go free and break the dark cicle of his family. Personally, i think Gracia was lying at the end, she is not a secure person AT ALL, and probably was... yk, by her brothers. At a young age, she learned that you're either predator or prey, and at the end of the movie she reminded herself of that by going hunting. When she asks Joe "who was the boss?" i think we're meant to ask ourselves "why should there be a boss?". I'm not saying she's a victim, but she's an interesting person that Elizabeth, and probably i, failed to understand. Fantastic video on a fantastic movie.
