I used to be there. Have hope that you can and will get out of it. It’s trying to fill a void that porn is incapable of filling, it’s a void that only Jesus can fill. He has to become bigger to you than porn. When Jesus becomes bigger and more beautiful to you than anything else, the desires for those other things will begin to fade away. It changes from “I know porn is bad so I don’t want to do it”, to, “I cannot even imagine grieving the heart of my Savior because of all He has done for me”. I used to be so addicted that I legitimately did not know how anyone could ever love me, or how I could ever get out. I’m overjoyed to say that I’ve been out of porn for probably close to 5 years now, am beautifully Married, and have a second child coming this Christmas. Go to war with porn by making Jesus infinitely bigger in your life that porn is now, and He can and will redeem all the things it has corrupted. Get accountability too. More people have struggled and overcome by the power of Jesus than you realize, don’t allow the enemy to trick you into believing you need to hide it and be ashamed, or do it on your own. Go to people you trust and are more mature than you in Christ and have them help you. Even if you will have to lay down any positions or serving in this season, being free from this is way more valuable. I’ll be praying for you.

I pray He would fill you with so much love and power that you don't even want to look at porn. Go pray for someone. Go start doing the things He wants you to do. What i'd like to know is why is it suddenly a problem when Netflix produces/airs a totally unbiblical show about Mary, but it's totally ok for Dallas Jenkins to produce an unbiblical show about Jesus. Why does the goalposts keep moving with professing Christians? You'd think ppl would have a bigger problem with Dallas Jenkins.
@Maurcusj7774 күн бұрын
@theeternalsbeliever1779 why is it a double standard? Netflix has a proven track record of botching shows based on nearly every type of sorce material, while most of us have never heard of Dallas Jenkins before the show took off. As for the show being unbiblical, I don't have a problem, per se, with a show, including extra biblical things. The question is one of intent and respect. Why is the material included or changed, and do the makers have enough respect for the material. The show *may* be totally fine, I am merely judging the trailer based on its content in light of what I know about Netflix produced shows of the past. The mob scene would have never happened in reality, from what I can tell, because the idea of her "adultery" was hidden. Alternatively, “me and him/her” is also correct, but you would never say “I and your mother are going to the movies.” Because “the movies” is the subject. Similarly, “You are a blessing to your mother and I.” is correct because the grouping “Mother and I” is the subject of the sentence. While the you is the object. Hope this helps clear confusion! @@2015BLOXXER I am kind of suprised a live-action version of "Prince of Egypt" isn't in the works. A live-action musical is now on stage. It probably would take spielberg (who produced the movie) to move it forward. If Gladiator 2 does really well, maybe that will also encourage more big-style biblical epics again.

Thanks for this. I share your sentiments. We just can't lose focus of what Jesus expects from us. He is the only way to God. Yes He is love and He loves us, but He expects repentance from sin and acknowledgement of His Lordship over our lives.

The girl boss stuff for Mary in Journey to Bethlehem was my problem with the film.
@toyaleejb77145 күн бұрын
It reminds me of Journey to Bethlehem. Vaguely biblical with a dash of Disney-esque songwriting and dialogue with a touch of made-up drama. Maybe they'll respect the text enough for it to be enjoyable. Maybe. But it is Netflix soooo
@tndm83125 күн бұрын
Journey To Bethlehem also portrayed a girl boss Mary, I was so disappointed... Lecrae and for King&Country were in it so I figured they'd stick to scripture but I was wrong. Joseph reminded me of Shaggy in Scooby Doo and this one seems haughty... smh. The focus should be how her and Joseph ultimately laid aside their differences for the sake of Jesus. Jesus was the importance of Mary, not the other way around. Thank you for your review! I missed some of the things you mentioned so thank you for shedding light.

What was kinda funny about Journey to Bethlehem was that (particularly if you just looked at the songs) the arc for Joseph and Mary’s relationship was actually pretty interesting if you looked at them solely as characters. But it wasn’t their story.

I didn't like the opening for Journey to Bethlehem when she was written as too modern. But once the story moved beyond that, I enjoyed the movie. Even bought the soundtrack. Great music. A movie my niece and I could watch together.

Anthony Hopkins played in another biblically inspired film, ‘Noah’, which had Russell Crowe playing Noah and Hopkins as Methuselah. The film was not a great representation of the Noah story.

Jesus himself didn't hold Mary in as high regard as Catholics and pop culture. Matthew 12:46-50 " 46 While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. 47 Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.” 48 He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” 49 Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. 50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”

I appreciate this assessment. It is a pet peeve of mine when historical-genre books or movies use phrasing and vernacular that wouldn’t have been in use yet at the time/ place of setting. Also, commenting on a portion of the analysis. Mobs: I can think of instances in the Bible when the Jewish people formed a mob and stoned or tried to stone someone. Stephen, woman caught in adultery, Jesus Himself, maybe Paul. …?

It reminds of the “modern type” language and dialogue in The Chosen; along with so many added words that production has put into Jesus’ mouth which I find hugely problematic. Plus hypothetical scenarios and read between the line threads and scenes which “may have happened “ … I just cannot get into at all. This too will be a no for me. Thanks for your thoughts Mike. Always Biblically insightful!!

I enjoyed this review. I definitely think there will be a lot of modern things thrust upon the historical accounts, but this is also how many movies treat secular historical events as well. I probably won't be clamoring to watch this or show it to my children. If I did, I would also be pausing throughout the movie to try and correct any inaccuracies, or mad at the end LOL That's why I've never shown my children the Prince of Egypt either. I loved that movie as a kid. Probably wouldn't so much now lol but it had it's place.

Even if it isn't a girl boss story, Hollywood always rewrites history to show people to be the way they think they should have been. And, women today love a story about extramarital pregnancy.

Can the movie industry NOT turn a female protagonist into a "girl boss"?!!! I mean, come on! Mary was a humble and obedient young woman. I'm surprised they didn't pick Rachel Zegler for the role.

Netflix did a movie about Noah's flood and it was awful. It was a sci-fi with "protectors" (metal mechs that took care of life). It seemed that they were to take the role of the god figure. The movie was extremely blasphemous.

One thing is absolute about a film like this, it is written filmed and directed by people without faith and so cannot do this story any true justice. I am afraid it is made to do much worse, with the goal of misleading people in an age when they do not read their Bibles and so cannot easily discern truth from the lies.
@adeleetherton26654 күн бұрын
I agree totally with you all... but, let me just say this. The industry is changing and they are realizing that Christians want Family friendly movies... It may be confusing, but if I was given a choice, I would rather they get it wrong and draw people to check out God's word.
