Be carefull about the overworld cords of the portal, it might be another trap. Your own portal is in your base is linked with one on the nether roof so use that one

You can use two swords, one without knockback and one with and you could use the knockback sword to push away your enemies away so that you can regenerate P.S. you should have multiple back up sets just so in case you die :)
