I was getting ready to put a timing chain on my bronco 2 and seen the box said China . So I figured I better check and see if there was any videos about cloyes and sure enough there was. Really appreciate your video, I don’t want to have to do this job twice.

That is Really Bad......4:40 that will flog out and bolts will come loose....does the SA Gear cost more than the other
@chevyfarmersgarage19557 ай бұрын
yep, bad beyond belief, the sa gear was a few bucks more, but well worth it, since its made correctly, thanks for watching!

Cloyes chains and gears aren't junk, just used one and it was/has been perfect. lmao, also, SA gear is Cloyes, and a great thing about this Comp Cams Is supplied by Cloyes aswell, and so is Howards, and summit racing, so, its just in your eyes.

I have a chevy 4.3l v6 but I dont know which timing set to get, I first got a melling timing set with the upgraded tensioner but it made some unholy noise after like 2 days, and cloyes seem like crap... shoud I try an sa gear set?
@chevyfarmersgarage19556 ай бұрын
I would, I know they were USA made,, but who knows what you are getting, I'm pretty sure the cloyes is a procomp china made one now

@@chevyfarmersgarage1955 I was searching some more and found an INA branded set, they are part of the Shaeffler group which makes OE chains and tensioners for bmw and mercedes, I think im going with that one

I'm not a hater I speak from experience. Had one of these kits that I purchased from a well known seller online fail on my 2010 4.6 3Valve within 6 months. To add insult to injury, the claim was denied because someone (never found out who) said I did not return all of the parts in the kit. NOT Amazon. One tensioner exploded in 50 pieces. I still don't know how the engine didn't jump time. I returned all of the parts removed with the shrapnel with the exception of what got past my oil pump screen. Are you scratching your head? YES I had to drop the old pan and clean out all the debris. Do what you want to do here but this is the second time i have had timing component failure NOT purchasing OEM or OEM manufacturer parts. the first was a Subaru that's belt broke in half like someone tore it right in the middle, supposed high quality aftermarket. What happened. 2 months out of warrantee? Sorry that's out of warrantee. Yes that was Amazon. The OEM just has a better relationship with suppliers. In closing. Equipment manufactures demand a certain lifecycle for components to try to eliminate warrantee claims. most give 60,000 mile warranty right (or more). Sure OEM is more money most times. Just think twice about what your after. Price or longevity. Price is relative. Longevity is typically a constant with OEM Meaning if you get 90,000 miles out of the component on a new vehicle, you can pretty much be sure 90,000 it will be sure to be close to its end of life again. I was NEVER disappointed with a OEM part purchase.

most, if not all of these weird, if you want to call them that, problems, are due to off shore parts, they copy and mass produce parts that they have no idea what they do, or are even for. take this timing set for example, yes it looks like a decent piece, but there are tolerances that have to be made exactly. close enough wont work for something like this, it is a critical part of the engine. yes oem has to produce quality parts. offshore replacement parts companies do not, a china company does not give a ratts ass about you, if it lasts, or how much BS you have to go through once you discover its crap. they brag about being iso certified, offer or "say" they give a warranty, when you actually do try to warranty a part, they always blame it on YOU! like your incompetent or something, snake oil salesmen will tell you anything to get your money. i did this vid to show that you have to check every little detail these days, the days of installing a timing set with confidence, you know slap her in and we are ready to go, are over
