@ThatOliverGuyChris14 күн бұрын
This appeared in my recommendations, and I've got to say it was cool to see my video helped someone out. I like your additional spacer plate to move it down to miss the throttle shaft. There's a spring and spool in the valve that steering pressure comes from that reduces the pressure because the Saginaw was only rated for 1500 psi. You can shim that spring to get the pressure higher for easier steering.
@chevyfarmersgarage195514 күн бұрын
Ive watched several of your vids, you are my go to if I need Oliver info, you are the oliver guy! I always liked the 1850 Oliver and cockshutts, i finally got one, its been a project so far, and made easier to tackle with your help. I'm no Oliver expert by any means. we are an ih farm with a few older Massey's, allis Chalmers, only other green we have is a Duetz, now we got an Oliver, dad said he would disown me if I brought home a Jd, lol. Something is not quite right with the steering, gets hard if you turn it a lot sitting still, just fine moving though?
@ThatOliverGuyChris14 күн бұрын
@chevyfarmersgarage1955 I run the front tires up to 45 psi on my loader tractors, makes a big difference. It sounded like the flow divider relief was opening when it was turning hard. Pull the front cap, it's the smaller of the 2 caps. there's a spring, shims, and a plunger in there. I'm sure your new orbital can handle more pressure than the old one. Get a couple washers that you can use as shims and add them to the stack to bump up the power steering pressure.
@chevyfarmersgarage195513 күн бұрын
thanks i appreciate it, ill give that press bump a try, it does chatter somewhere down low when i turn? almost like its coming from the lines that run up front? also im pretty sure i need to reseal the box up front, got some slight leakage somewhere up there, it also needs a water pump, the bearing is loose, i thought id tackle all of that up front at the same time

My dad had one when I was in diapers 😅, it was. '65 SS Malibu with a 327 ci that he'd done a bit to. He found an old Vette and took the four speed and posi out to put in it. It said it was a pretty wild ride 👍, he rolled it several times and didn't have his seatbelt on. It through him out the window and he landed in a ditch just before the car rolled over top of him... Had he not landed in the ditch line it'd killed him. Messed him up for a long time and when he got to walking normal again, he took the trans and rearend out and put in a '70 Nova that had a 400 sbc in it. That's what I dream about 😅, I love those Nova's from '68-'70 but those prior body styles are nice also. That look like the Chevy 2
